Meeting of the Austrian-Ukrainian Union of Lawyers
In November 2008, a meeting of the founders of the Austrian and Ukrainian Association of Lawyers took place in Vienna. The Austrian and Ukrainian Association of Lawyers is an international social organization that was established with the aim of experience exchange between practicing lawyers of Ukraine and Austria. The founders of the Association are Fritz Wennig, the President of the Association of Lawyers of Austria, and Timur Bondaryev, the Senior Partner of the law firm “Arzinger & Partners”.
For the last few years, Ukraine has become more attractive for Austria as a commercial and investment partner; the export turnover of Austrian goods has grown to 350 million Euros in the recent years. Timur Bondaryev mentioned that the interest of investors in the Ukrainian market with its 48 million of customers encourages Austrian companies to establish their representative offices and manufacturing enterprises here, laying thus a stable foundation for close cooperation between the lawyers of both countries. Taking this into account, the establishment of a core organization, which would unite the Austrian and Ukrainian lawyers, was just a question of time.
“Establishment of the Austrian and Ukrainian Association of Lawyers was aimed at the development of
cooperation between the lawyers of our countries, the active exchange of experience, and support in the establishment of the legal protection system in Ukraine”, Fritz Wennig stated.
Timur Bondaryev: “I’m very happy that we have established the Association with the representatives of such a country as Austria, with its stable and developed legal system. The experience of the Austrian lawyers can appear to be really useful for Ukraine. In the nearest future we plan to organize a number of events both in Austria and Ukraine, dedicated to the discussion of legal issues and legislative initiatives.
Among the scheduled events of the Association we can name holding of branch conferences on the topical issues, round tables with representatives of Austrian and Ukrainian business-circles, organizing a legal forum “The days of the Austrian law in Ukraine” (in the frames of the forum consultations and workshops of the well-known Austrian lawyers will take place), the development of student exchange programs and training courses for the students of the leading higher educational establishments and social projects aimed at the development of cultural relations between our countries.
Ukrainian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary in Austria Yevgenij Chornobryvko and Ukrainian Consul in Austria Yevgenij Krekotun also attended the meeting. *** Arzinger & Partners Ukraine with offices in Kyiv and Lviv is a full service law firm specializing in all major areas of business law and serving large international, as well as domestic companies, in Ukraine and beyond.
