    1. Introduction :

Archaeology is about searching and revealing various faces of humanity from prehistoric era, engaging in construction of ancient history, which usually lack written record. Ancient history is the starting point of civilizations, and the beginning of statehood constructs core part of modern and even contemporary identity of a nation or a state. Archaeologists often concentrates their research activities in open excavation sites and spend rest of their time in museum labs or graduate seminars to interpret the found relics, artifacts, and parts of ruins. Recently archaeologist have found that they need more broad knowledge and research methods derived from other fields to better interpret the significance and meaning of dug-out traces of human history. Contemporary archaeology puts more emphasis on interdisciplinary study involving geneticists, social scientists, war historians, linguists, astronomers, folklore specialists, geologists and those from other related fields. The program installed in Inha University Graduate School aims at supplying the academia and the public with archaeologists armed with broad knowledge base from relevant sciences. Especially the curriculum focuses on educating specialized archaeologists whose area of interest covers ancient history of Northeast Asia. For example, the Jade civilization of Hungshan area in inner Mongolia and the Old Chosun Empire in the west of the Liaohe River and Manchuria are major object of academic inquiry and research activities. The interdepartmental program awards the M.A. and Ph.D degrees for both part time and full time graduate students.
