SAN CARLO HOMES FOR THE AGED LTD
NEWSLETTER –JULY 2011
To all our Residents and Families
PROVISION OF CLOTHING
We would like to remind families when new or additional clothing is brought to San Carlo for their loved one; it needs to be given to the RN in Charge for labelling. You will be provided with a receipt stating the garments received.
Clothing for Comfort
Many of our residents have a restricted range of movement particularly in their upper body. Many experience stiff and painful joints/limbs. For the comfort of your loved one we recommend that the clothing you choose is to be of a generous size. This will enable staff to
assist your loved one with dressing/undressing and minimise stretching limb movement and reducing the occurrence of discomfort.
If you are unsure of the size to purchase speak to the RN in Charge who will be happy to advise you on appropriate sizing and style.
Electrical tagging will commence in August, if families would prefer to have electrical items tagged it must be completed by August. San Carlo will provide a tagging service for resident‟s electrical items at a cost of $5.50 per item.
The Nursing Home Pantry renovation has now commenced and should be completed by August. The renovation consists of a new meeting/education room which will be used for family meetings and small group education sessions. A small kitchen area will be installed along with a TV, CD/DVD player and an overhead projector.
Fogolar Furlan Club Outing
Residents attending were very satisfied for having had the opportunity to play „proper‟ bocce following proper Italian rules. Residents also enjoyed playing billiards and have expressed that they would like to play both games during future outings at the Furlan Club. Due to positive outcome of this activity, we will endeavour to attend on a regular monthly basis.
Italian National Day
ndFesta Della Republica, was once again celebrated on the 2 June 2011, the South Unit was
beautifully decorated in the traditional Italian colours, red, white & green. The female
members of the Furlan Choir “Le Cantarine Friulane” were the highlight of the day with their colourful costumes and traditional Italian patriotic songs. Some of our residents contributed
to the celebration by reciting some patriotic poems. Our residents and some family members
that attended were delighted with the patriotic atmosphere that was created.
thN.B. Please note that Mass on this Thursday 14 July 2011 will be held at 2.00pm on the South Unit.
