Why You Gotta Be So Mean
“You, with your words like knives and swords and weapons that you use against me.”
“You, with your voice like nails on a chalk board calling me out when I’m winded.”
“Someday, I’ll be big enough so you can’t hit me. And all you’re ever
gonna be is mean. Why you gotta be so mean?”
Listening to the words of the song, I fall into meditation. Yes, people are likely to pick on weaker men. People are keen on pointing out other’s
flaws again as they themselves don’t already see them. They prefer to
humiliate others in public. Right, people are always mean. What they lack is tolerance and generosity. People tend to be jealous of other’s
achievements and regard them as a kind of lucky thing instead of ability. It seems that it’s hard for them to admit other’s talent. Once someone
makes mistake, some people are ready to humiliate him. Superficially, they may feel sorry for you, but they are delighted to see other’s failures.
Such people do exist. When you are working on something, some people are praying good for you while some people are cursing you stealthily.
I’m not talking about the issue that human nature is evil. What l want to
emphasis is that why can’t we focus on ourselves rather than using
other’s failure to highlight our excellence.
