Using the Epson Expression 1680 Radiograph Scanner

    ; Using the Epson Expression 1680 Radiograph Scanner 1/10/02

    Following directions assume both the scanner and the PC are ON. If systems are OFF, turn on scanner (lower-right corner on front face of scanner gray

    button), and then the PC. When password prompt comes upenter

    COMPOSITE and then hit ENTER.

; ALL MOUSE CLICKS ARE LEFT UNLESS OTHERWISE ADVISED.

    ; Begin by placing radiograph on scanner bed with the item in the upper-

    right hand corner indicated by the

    ; IMPORTANT - make sure your item is oriented correctly before the FINAL

    scan is made, as changing orientation may require Photoshop or

    comparable software. The software on this system will allow you to rotate

    your image.

    ; To initiate scan and load the software, Click on this on this

    on the desktop.

; This screen appears.

    CLICK on this icon to

     begin the scanning process.

; Epson Twain Pro software

    window will appear on screen.

     ; For Document Source,

     select TPU for Positive

     Film.

     ; For Image Type select 8-bit

     Color (Std)

     ; For Resolution select 150

     for use in PowerPoint presentations (you may

     select a higher resolution but this will require more

     memory).

     ; To scan your image, Click on the Preview button

    ; The Preview pane appears with your

    image

    ; Under Adjust are 4 options for

    improving the quality of your image

    (auto correction, exposure, gamma,

    highlight, shadow, tone, gray balance intensity and saturation).

    ; BEFORE ADJUSTING YOUR IMAGE,

    using the mouse cursor, position it in the image frame until it changes to a +. Then CLICK AND DRAG TO CREATE THE FRAME AREA YOU WANT TO

    ADJUST, AND RELEASE WHEN

    YOU HAVE DEFINED THE DESIRED AREA. This should be the area you intend to use for your FINAL scan. Only the portion of the image within the moving frame will respond to the image adjustments.

    ; To eliminate the ―Marquee‖ (moving frame), click on ―delete selected marquee‖…

    ; To select a single film or section of a radiograph or series ….adjust your

    ―marquee‖ (moving frame) by clicking

    and dragging the borders of the marquee to frame the desired area. CLICK PREVIEW ..this will capture the area you have selected.

    Make your

    adjustments to this

    section before

    your final scan.

    ; Having made your adjustments click on

    SCAN and the image within the

    marquee will be scanned.

; Your FINAL image will appear providing you with numerous options, such

    as, rotating left or right. Place your cursor over the various options to

    see what they do.

; To SAVE your image, click

    on the floppy disk icon,

    select the drive (A, D, etc.),

    name your image and click

    on SAVE.

    ; To scan another image,

    click on the scanner icon

    (Scan New). Insert a new

    radiograph or continue to

    use the prior one. Hit

    PREVIEW to begin the scanning process again.

; DON’T FORGET TO REMOVE YOU
