    People To People Programme

    Budget Line B7-4100

Programme for which proposals are sought and financing sources

    a. Programme: People to People wishes to focus and increase co-operative activities

    of civil society organisations, primarily of the countries participating in the Middle

    East peace process and to improve mutual understanding between the peoples in

    the Middle East in support of a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in the region.

    b. Financing sources: EC Budget line B7-4100 "MEDA (measures to accompany the

    reforms to the economic and social structures in the Mediterranean non-member

    countries)". The global indicative amount available for the People to People-

    Programme is EUR 5 million.

Type and size of projects

    a. Projects should be within geographical and thematic areas covered by the budget

    line as described in further detail in the Guidelines for Applicants 2000. Thematic

    priorities for 2000 are set out in section 1.1.3 of the Guidelines. b. Minimum amount of grant: EUR 150.000. The overall objective will be to award

    grants for no more than 30 actions.

    c. Maximum amount of grant: EUR 500.000 and not more than 80% of total eligible

    project costs.

d. Maximum project implementation period: 36 months

Eligibility : who may apply

    Non-profit-making, non-governmental organisations and institutions - with the exception of media organisations, which may apply for a grant even if they are profit making - having their headquarters in a beneficiary country covered by the budget line B7-4100 or in a Member State of the European Union. Applications by such organisations having their headquarters in a country outside the European Community and outside the beneficiary country may be considered in exceptional cases. For further details, see section 2.1.1 of the Guidelines for Applicants 2000.

Form, languages, address and deadline for applications

    a) Form : Project proposals including annexes must be submitted in one original and five copies. Applicants must use the application form annexed to the Guidelines for Applicants 2000.

b) Language: see section 2.2 of the Guidelines for Applicants 2000.

c) Deadline for applications: 16h00 on 16 October 2000. Any application received by

    the Commission services in Brussels after the deadline will be automatically rejected.

    d) Applications should be sent by registered mail or hand-delivered to the address listed in section 2.2.2 of the guidelines

    e) Envelopes must be clearly marked with the following indications: the reference number of the call for proposals, Budget Line B7-4100, the full name of the applicant and address of the organisation, and the phrase “DO NOT OPEN UNTIL THE PROPOSALS’ OPENING SESSION”.
