    5’s Soccer 5 a-side League Rules

    1/ Players may play for ONE TEAM ONLY during the competition. Each team should declare a list of

    up to 10 players from which their playing team can be selected and should not call up players

    from another team in the event of being in need of a substitute. Defaulters will be liable to

    concede a walk-over and such decisions will be made prior to the game commencing. NOTE in

    some cases this rule can be waived after consultation with both team captains and the referee. 2/ Games are 36 minutes in length, straight through with no half time.

    3/ Players can score from anywhere on the pitch.

    4/ Play will be continuous using both the side AND end walls.

    5/ There are no offsides.

    6/ If the ball travels above head height, which is at the discretion of the referee, an indirect free

    kick will be awarded, to be taken from where the ball was initially played. 7/ There is no heading of the ball during play. If a player does head the ball an indirect free kick will

    be awarded.

    8/ The maximum number of substitutes permitted is three.

    9/ Substitutions can be made on a roll on, roll off basis. The referee must be informed when a

    substitute is being made and there must be a stoppage in play.

    10/ Goalkeepers can be changed or replaced. The referee must be informed when the change is

    being made and there must be a stoppage in play.

11/ Goalkeepers must play the ball by an under-arm throw

    - Once a goalkeeper plays the ball it can be received ANYWHERE on the pitch.

    - After a goalkeeper has rolled out the ball to a team-mate, the ball may not be played back

    to the goalkeeper until at least one other player has touched the ball. If the ball is passed

    directly back to the goalkeeper by the player who received the ball initially, a penalty kick

    will be awarded to the opposition.

    12/ The white semi-circle (6m radius) is the penalty area. NO player on either side may enter the

    penalty area. The only exception is the DEFENDING GOALKEEPER, who may not go outside of

    the penalty area.

    - If rule 12 is intentionally infringed by an attacking player, the goalkeeper will be given a roll-

    out.

    - If rule 12 is intentionally infringed by a defending player, a penalty kick will be awarded.

    - If rule 12 is intentionally infringed by the goalkeeper, a penalty kick will be awarded.

    - For unintentional infringements of this rule, the game will continue (i.e. no free kicks of any

    kind).

    13/ Should a player in a goal scoring position be fouled, then a penalty kick will be awarded and the

    player committing the foul will be shown a blue card.

    14/ The referees decision is final in regards facts connected with play.

    15/ Players will be penalised and a direct free kick awarded for the following;

    - Body contact

    - Charging

    - Sliding tackles in view of possible dangers.

    Defenders must stand 3m from ball for all free kicks.

16/ Blue cards will be shown for the following;

    - Tackles from behind

    - Pushing or shirt pulling

    - Persistent fouling

    - Foul and abusive language

    - Diving.

    Straight red cards will be shown for the following;

    - Two footed tackles

    - Shoving opposition players into the wall

    - Violent conduct i.e. punching, elbowing, spitting…etc.

    - Two blue cards for the same player during a single game.

    One blue card = 2 minutes in the dugout, without being replaced by a substitute.

    Red card = permanent exclusion from play.

    17/ Shin pads and appropriate footwear must be worn at all times. 18/ In the event of a team cancellation a walk over will be awarded and a 5-0 scoreline will be

    credited to the opposing team.

    19/ In the event of teams being level on points at the end of the season, position will be decided by

    goal difference. If goal difference is level then it will be decided on goals scored.

    All other rules conform to ‘The F.A. Laws of the Game for Small Sided Football’

    This league will conform to West Riding County F.A. Disciplinary Procedures
