Dear Parents and Carers,

Following discussions with staff and consultation with the Governing Body, from September 2012, we are making some changes to our school uniform. Please don’t be alarmed, the changes can be phased

in so that the current style will be completely replaced by the new style over the next 12 months.

The thinking behind this is as follows:

; To ultimately reduce variation in uniform worn

; To smarten children up and encourage them to take a pride in their school, their appearance

    and their belongings

; To promote consistency and uniformity

; To make our school more recognizable when children attend outside school functions and to

    and from school

; To reduce the need to store new uniform

From September 2012, all children will be expected to wear white shirts and ties clip-on for

Reception, Years 1 and 2, proper ties from Year 3 onwards. No more polo shirts please.

We have a few sweatshirts and cardigans in various sizes left in stock, which we will be selling up until the end of this term at a reduced rate. As the school sweatshirts/cardigans wear out through the coming year, they can be relegated to the PE bag for cold weather games lessons, and replaced with the new style sweater. This is high quality, navy with a pale blue line around the v-neck and school logo. (Available from the middle of August.)

As soon as you are ready to replace outgrown winter uniform, please follow the advice in the tables below for box-pleated navy skirts and pinafore dresses or black trousers.

There is the option of having a blazer with our school logo for Years 3 to 6.

The new sweaters can only be obtained from “Different Class”. All uniform may be ordered and paid rdfor on-line from “Different Class” from Monday 23 July, then collected from their offices in Chesham or

from the school during term time. Parents who prefer to source other parts of the uniform from a different supplier, are asked to stick closely to the same styles and shade of navy please.

The new uniform will be on display in the library shortly. Please come and have a look. We will continue to stock PE t-shirts until they run out. They can then be ordered on-line direct from “Different Class”.

Full details about ordering and pricelists from “Different Class” will be sent to you straight after half term.

Please help us to “smarten up” by supporting this uniform initiative.

Kind regards

    Carol Brown

Jewellery

Jewellery must not be worn in school. If ears are pierced, please make sure simple studs are worn that can be removed and replaced by the child themselves for PE. Studs can also be taped up with micropore tape, but this does not fully protect the earlobe from being damaged. Please be aware of this. Watches may be worn from Years 3 to 6 at the owner’s own risk.

Friendship bands not allowed. Please inform us by letter if your child needs to wear a band for religious or medical reasons reasons.

Hair

Shoulder length hair must be tied back (girls and boys) securely with a simple stretchy band. Short hair needs to be kept out of eyes with a simple navy hair band. No flowers, jewels or other decorations. Hair should not be dyed. Fashion cuts for boys shaved lines and symbols,

mohecans, stripes etc are not allowed. Parents will be asked to have the hair recut. If hair is beaded or plaited during the holidays, it must be securely tied back for reasons of health and safety. If in doubt, please ask before the event.

Nail varnish

    Not allowed.

PE KIT

PE kit needs to be kept in a fabric PE bag. Plastic carrier bags split and kit is easily lost. This must be brought into school on Mondays and be taken home for washing on Fridays when necessary. PE is a statutory element of the curriculum. It is important for our children to wear the appropriate clothing for safety reasons and to have the right kit at the right times. Please support your child by making sure they have the correct kit in school and that it is named. We

will be contacting parents whose children do not bring their PE kit to school regularly to establish the reason.
