    Unsafe Food Products

    The following products have a high content of food allergens and are not safe for the pod to serve or handle.

Peanut Butter

    Nut (Almond) Butters

    Peanut Butter Crackers

    Peanut Butter Cookies

    Loose Nuts (almonds, walnuts, cashews etc…)

    Loose Peanuts in or out of shell Trail Mix

    Granola Bars

    Peanut Butter Frostings

    Nut-containing cookies or brownies Any peanut/nut containing chocolates/candy Almond Joy

    Almond Hershey Bars and Kisses Hershey Christmas “peppermint” kisses contain shea butter (nut oil). Peanut M&M’s

    Plain M&M’s have a high peanut content due to the manufacturing practices

    that allow ground peanuts from the peanut lines to be mixed into the plain


    Reese’s Peanut-Butter Cups

    Other Unsafe Non-Food Products:

Lotions and Soaps with nut oils many cosmetic products contain sweet

    almond oil, macadamia nut oil, or shea (nut) butter please read labels

    Wipes with nut oils please read labels - some contain shea butter --a nut oil

    Egg Cartons



    Dried pastas for gluing on craft projects can contain eggs. Currently Tops store brand pasta is safe.

    Dry cereals for craft projects can contain nuts.

    Washed out food containers for peanut/nut butters or mayonnaise Any food container that used to contain peanut/nut/egg products Eggs for incubator projects

    Bird Feed/Seed

    Animal Feed Please check with the teacher about bringing an animal into visit. The animal itself may not pose a problem, but prepared animal feeds often contain peanuts/nuts/egg proteins.

*Important Note: Please be aware that these are examples of unsafe products and not an all-

    encompassing list of every allergenic product on the market. There are many products that

    contain food allergens of peanuts, tree-nuts, and eggs. Use these lists as a tool to get started

    thinking about how to identify dangerous materials and products.
