Cost Increases and Quality Projects Initiative
A document summarizing the responses from the states was reviewed by the team. Currently 10 states have responded thus far. The cut off date for responses is 6/16. Therefore we still expect a number of responses to be received. Joyce and the survey team will wait a few days and follow up with those states that have not responded. Barry indicated that Ohio DOT is doing quite a bit in the area of better project management and would be a good source of info. All efforts need to be made to ensure they respond to the survey.
The responses are raw data, that is, they have been cut and pasted. No modifications to the response. Joyce is going to add a few new columns that would capture contact information from each state. She will also place any attachments on an FTP site and put a link in the document.
The team briefly discussed future plans of where we’re going with this effort. Will there be a
need to meet face to face to discuss research needs, analysis of the data or future action items? It was determined that it’s probably too soon at this time to decide. This needs to be a topic for next meeting.
One alternative could be to simply compile the survey data into a brief report, assimilating like activities, providing attachments and contact data. The impression was that this would be useful to other states. This too needs to be discussed further.
FHWA Survey on Cost Increases
Jim Lunetta has been tied up with the National Review of the Local Agency Program. So he hasn’t had as much time to spend on this activity. At the April teleconference the team reviewed the FHWA survey response document. Mike Graf was going to follow up and include the reports/studies done by the Divisions/States. He was also going to send out a follow up request to get additional input from those Divisions that did not respond.
Ken will follow up with Jim or Mike.
The following are the dates for our future telecons. The dial in number is 850-487-9552. Please mark these on your calendar.
