1 Introduction

    Workplace Health and Safety Queensland (WHSQ) is seeking comment on the draft

    Rural Plant Code of Practice 2004, only in relation to proposed section 8.4 Quad

    bikes and proposed section 8.5 Two wheel motorbikes. This comment paper

    provides advice on preparing and submitting your written comments on the draft on-line guide.

2 How do I submit my comments?

    This review process plays an important role in improving safety standards for quad bike and two wheel motorbike users in the rural industry. It is therefore important to provide clear and concise comments. All comments must be provided in writing and preferably via electronic copy. Comments cannot be submitted over the telephone.

    To assist the evaluation of your comments, please consider the following points. ; Comments are divided into “General comment” (eg: comments about the

    purpose, scope or structure of the on-line guide); and

; Specific comments” (e.g. comments about particular requirements,

    sections, points or issues you think should be included).

    - Specific comments should clearly indicate the location of the subject of

    the comment.

    - Provide reasons for your comments. You may refer to supporting

    evidence such as a real or theoretical situation relevant to the subject

    matter of the on-line guide (e.g. a particular accident or incident),

    research or statistical data, or your own employment experiences.

    Please suggest alternate wording for particular provisions in the draft

    on-line guide where appropriate.

    ; It is important that your comments be prepared with good quality type or

    preferably submitted electronically.

    4 What happens to my comments?

    WHSQ will review and collate the comment received and incorporate it where

    appropriate into a final version of the Rural Plant Code of Practice 2004. When

    completed, the Minister is expected to make the code under the Work Health and

    Safety Act 2011, and a notice about the making of the code will be published. It is

    expected that sufficient time will be given to enable users of quad bikes and motorbikes

    to make any required changes to meet any new requirements.
