    Reception and accommodation/housing There is no reception center for UMA’s. facilities Unaccompanied minors can stay at child

    protection institutions or with foster

    families according to the circumstances

    of each child (age, language etc.) where

    their needs (basic, emotional, social) are

    dealt. Also many of them are

    accommodated with people from their

    own countries.

    Guardianship (either by professionals or The Director of Social Welfare Services volunteers) or his representative is the guardian of

    the child.

    Tracing of family members/RFL Through the cooperation the Department, (Restoring Family Links) maintain with the International Social

    Services.

    Legal aid The guardian has the responsibility to

    safeguard the rights and the best interest Health check and health care

    Republic of Cyprus.

    The main responsibilities of the Asylum

    Service are the following:

    Ministry of Insurance and Social The Social Welfare Services aim to Insurance safeguard social cohesion and social Social Welfare Services solidarity; to provide social protection, Governmental body achieve social inclusion and promote

    Republic of Cyprus; to combat poverty

    and social exclusion and to promote the

    interests of individuals, families and

    communities.

    In order to achieve the above-mentioned

    goals the Social Welfare Services,

    among others provide protection and

    care to children and other vulnerable

    groups of people.
