    VeriFire Tools 5.31 Release Notes

VeriFire Tools 5.31 fixes and modifications:

; Corrects an issue with communication timeout errors that could occur with DVC database

    downloads

NOTE: With version 5.31 the user must select the appropriate Panel Database Version when creating a new database. For NFS2-640 and NFS-320 do not select the default of version 11.0, this version is not presently released to production. For NFS2-3030 and NCA-2 do not select the default version of 12.0, this version is not presently released. Use the ‘Panel’s Database

Version’ drop down box to select the correct version. This version allows an NFS2-3030 or NCA-2 database to be upgraded to version 11.0 or 12.0, do not select 12.0 as this version has not been released to production.

VeriFire Tools 5.31 adds new features / functionality to support the NFS2-640, NFS-320, and USB support. To accommodate the enhanced programming capability, VeriFire Tools 5.31 is packaged with software called NFN Gateway application.

The NFN Gateway application is required software for VeriFire Tools to communicate with a control

panel or a NOTI-FIRE-NET. This application needs to be running on the PC before using VeriFire Tools to perform any communications with a control panel.

Please familiarize yourself with the steps below to access the NFN Gateway and associated applications:

; To Start the NFN Gateway application:

o Go to Start -> Programs -> VeriFire Tools and select NFN Gateway.

; To Shutdown the NFN Gateway application:

o Double-left click on the icon in the system tray

o Go to File, and then select Login

o Type in your password. The default password for login is 00000000 [eight

    zero’s]

o Go to File and then Shutdown Gateway. Answer Yes when prompted “Are you sure

you want to exit the NFN Gateway”. This will shut down the NFN Gateway task

    completely

; To Run the Serial Port Configuration Utility:

o Disable the NFN Gateway application as described above

o Access the Serial Port Configuration Utility

o Start the NFN Gateway application as described above

Please also familiarize yourself with the following scenarios:

; SCENARIO #1: New VeriFire Tools installation messages and USB driver information

; SCENARIO #1.1 NUP connections are not allowed with USB connections

SCENARIO #1

When VeriFire Tools 5.3 is installing, it may display the following message:

In all cases, select “Continue Anyway”. This popup relates to the new USB drivers that are distributed during the VeriFire Tools installation. After the installation is completed and a USB cable has been connected for the first time, it will display the following message:

This window is a wizard that assists the user in installing and configuring the new USB drivers to allow high-speed communication to exist between the panels and VeriFire Tools. Follow the steps 7 through 11 in the section: Scenario #2 (Solution 1).

SCENARIO #1.1

The network node list in VeriFire Tools changes and only shows a direct (CPU) connection between it and the panel, with no other nodes present. This occurs under the following conditions:

    1. Communication has been established with a FACP through NUP using VeriFire Tools.

    2. Subsequently, a secondary connection has been made through USB directly to the USB port of a

    supported panel.

POSSIBLE REASONS:

This abnormal operation occurs because both USB and NUP communications cannot coexist and the USB takes precedence. The restriction is the cause of the network node list updating when USB connection was made.

SOLUTION:

Use the NUP connection or USB connection when communicating with the supported panels; however, do not use both connections at the same time. Once the USB connection is removed, the node list will return to the previous listing.

SCENARIO #2

When VeriFire Tools 5.3 is installed and fails to connect to the NFN Gateway through a USB connection,

the following message will be displayed:

POSSIBLE REASON: USB cable connection was established between a PC and a panel before installing VeriFire Tools. This would prevent the USB driver from being installed properly.

SOLUTION 1:

    1) Go to Start->Control Panel and selecting the System icon

    2) Click the Hardware Tab.

    3) Click the Device Manager button:
