Two Local Men Arrested For Brutal California Beating

(Maricopa County) Two men from Fountain Hills were arrested yesterday by Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office deputies for their alleged involvement in a brutal and random attack on a Los Angeles man in late September.

Sheriff’s deputies received information from the Santa Monica Police Department concerning one of the suspects but did not have any information on the second one. Sheriff’s deputies were able to conduct surveillance and were able to identify the second

    suspect and arrest both men.

Sheriff’s deputies arrested Brian Scott Hale (24 years old), and Brett Davis (25 years old); and booked them into the Fourth Avenue Jail on attempted murder charges. They are expected to be extradited to Los Angeles within the next few days and are being held on a bond of $1,030,000.00.

Police in Los Angeles working with Sheriff’s deputies here say both Arizona men were in the Los Angeles area doing work there for a moving company. After drinking in a bar on Santa Monica Boulevard in the early morning hours of September 22, 2011, police believe they randomly attacked an innocent man who simply passed by the bar as the two Arizona men were exiting.

The unnamed victim is a 45 year old movie producer who was out exercise-walking with weights when Hale and Davis attacked him behind using the weights to brutally beat the man. The victim suffered a collapsed skull, several brain bleeds, a broken jaw and neck and back fractures. While he is expected to survive, doctors say long term effects from the beating are very possible.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio says, “I am proud of the hard work by my deputies. These arrests came to a successful conclusion with the interstate coordination of the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office and the Santa Monica Police Department.”
