    CSIT SCOPING TEMPLATE

Introduction

Determining the precise scope of the self assessment is critical in ensuring that your organisation achieves maximum benefit from the process. The self

assessment will be more accurate if all involved are clear about what’s included and what’s not, and managing the process, decision making, and improvement planning will be easier and more precise.

The starting point for this project is what you want to include in it; the self assessment will provide an insight into strengths and areas for development

about Efficiency in culture and sport services, so the following questions are a guide to drafting a relevant scope for the project; the subsequent table will enable you to write your responses to some if not all of these questions:

1. Your organisation:

; Which aspects of culture and sport in your organisation do you want an Efficiency self assessment to cover, and why?

; Which aspects of culture and sport do you want to exclude, and why?

2. Your internal partners:

; Do you have internal partners involved in culture and sport?

; Are there areas of culture and sport in your organisation which don’t come “under your wing” that you want to include?

3. Your external partners:

; Are there aspects of culture and sport in the third / voluntary sector that you want to include? If so, which ones?

; Which strategic partnerships are you involved in?

; Are there culture and sport services that you commission others to provide for you that you want to include?

; Which external service providers do you have working relationships or partnerships with?

4. Procurement:

; Which external organisations or agencies do you obtain services and / or goods from?

Prompt:

The breadth and depth of culture and sport provision varies enormously across local authorities, while there are common elements very few are the same. The following is a “shopping list” of potential services that might be included in a self assessment scope; the list is not exhaustive and is intended to prompt discussion, there is no right or wrong list, but the scope should include what’s appropriate to your area and assist in understanding your strengths and areas

    for development in Efficiency.
