    It gives me immense pleasure to host the 9th International Gastric Cancer Congress (IGCC 2011) in Seoul, Korea from April 20th to 23rd, 2011. On behalf of the IGCC 2011 organizing committee, I extend a very warm and cordial invitation to all of you. The IGCC has been held biannually since 1995 as a scientific congress of the International Gastric Cancer Association (IGCA). As the most highly

     acclaimed meeting in the field of gastric cancer, the IGCC 2011 is General Information:

    expected to draw about 2,000 participants from around the world. The

    IGCC 2011 will be an excellent learning experience for all participants. Under the theme “A Gate to the Future of Gastric Cancer Treatment,” a wide range of scientific programs and stimulating social activities will be organized. In addition, renowned experts will address

    the pertinent issues and technological advances in the broad areas of

    gastric cancer and its treatment throughout the congress.

    Furthermore, participants will have a great networking opportunity

    Cancer is an increasing problem in the MENA (Middle East & North Africa) Region and ranks as the fourth leading cause of death. It is a major public health problem that affects every country in the MENA region regardless of economic and social General situation. Although the incidence of cancer in the Region is still well below that in Information:

    western countries, it is expected to experience the highest increase among all WHO Regions in the next 20 years. The MENA Oncology Conference will focus mainly on

    The Charles Heidelberger Symposia are broad cancer research

    meetings organized annually or biennially to honor the late Charles Heidelberger, former president of the American Association for Cancer Research, member of the National Academy of Sciences of the U.S.A., General Information: and an extraordinary scientist in the fields of carcinogenesis and cancer chemotherapy (he patented 5-fluorouracil (5FU), a drug that came to symbolize the promise chemotherapy of nonhematologic malignancies). The 16th edition of the Symposia will bring together scientists from

    around the world to present their achievements and discuss the most

    recent advances in cancer, from basic research to clinical applications.

    To foster networking, the participation to the Symposium is limited to

    about 150 scientists. Coimbra, which is located approximately two hours

    by train north of Lisbon, is a friendly university town with many

    attractions, namely its University, which was founded in 1290 and is,

    therefore, one of the world’s oldest universities. Participants will have

    the opportunity to visit some of its most emblematic monuments, such

    as the Biblioteca Joanina (the Baroque library of the University of

    Coimbra, built in the 18th century during the reign of King João V). We

    are looking forward to host you in Coimbra in September 2010 and to

    make 16ICHSCR a memorable scientific experience.

    The 4th International Cancer Control Congress scheduled to be held at the National Cancer

    Center, Seoul, Republic of Korea November 3-5th, 2011 aims to provide a forum for

    countries with various levels of resources to learn from one another while recognizing that prevailing circumstances related to economics, culture and geography will necessitate

    tailored approaches to strategies, practices and resources. The purpose of the 4th ICCC is to

    build on prior ICCC’s and provide an opportunity for a broad constituency of global Description stakeholders to convene with colleagues from South-East Asia, Western Pacific Region to

    work together, share experiences and learn from one another regarding optimizing cancer control based practices.

    Objectives of the congress include to reinforce and strengthen existing global and Asia-Pacific networks to promote action to enhance cancer control; enable continuous development of regional and global communities of practice; provide opportunity for

    exploring health system integration, population based cancer control, intersectoral alignment

    the International Academy of Cardiology, 16th WORLD CONGRESS ON HEART

    DISEASE, Annual Scientific Sessions 2011, Vancouver, BC, Canada, July 23-26, 2011.

    The Congress will provide the opportunity for a comprehensive overview of the latest

    research developments in cardiovascular medicine, primarily in the areas of molecular

    biology, coronary artery disease, heart failure, cardiac arrhythmias and cardiac surgery.

    Plans for this meeting are progressing extremely well. Many distinguished cardiologists and

    scientists have agreed to join the faculty participating in this Congress. Papers will be

    scientific material originating from numerous laboratories around the globe, assuring that the

    meeting will be a major scientific event.

    Program areas will range from clinical pathophysiology to evaluation and stratification

    genetic studies. We will discuss new and innovative diagnostic methods, prevention and

    treatment of heart disease, and prognostic algorithms. Integrated into the program will be an

    Participants interested in presenting oral communications and/or poster presentations are invited to submit their abstract(s) directly via this website for consideration by the Scientific Committee.

Abstracts sent by mail or fax will not be processed by the Secretariat and will not be

    forwarded to the Scientific Committee for review. In case of genuine difficulties, please contact the Congress Secretariat: klimedco@ucla.edu. Please do not submit multiple copies of the same abstract. If submitting an amended abstract, please indicate that it is a

    replacement abstract.

    Symbols, tables, graphs or pictures cannot be submitted via the website. Abstracts containing symbols, tables, graphs or pictures must be e-mailed as a Word document

    attachment to the Congress Secretariat: klimedco@ucla.edu. Include the presenting author's

    full contact details as well as the category under which your abstract should be reviewed.

DEADLINE FOR RECEIPT OF ABSTRACTS: FEBRUARY 28, 2011

PROCESSING OF ABSTRACTS

    All abstracts will be reviewed by at least seven members of the Scientific Committee. An abstract may be accepted for oral presentation, as a poster, or may be rejected.

    You will receive confirmation that your abstract has been received, indicating the abstract number, which it has been allocated. Please refer to this number in all correspondence regarding the abstract.

    The Scientific Committee will assess all submitted abstracts, and information regarding acceptance and scheduling will then be sent to authors. Authors whose abstracts are accepted

    agree to give the International Academy of Cardiology permission to publish his/her abstract(s), without compensation, in the Journal of Heart Disease and on its website www.CardiologyOnline.com.

    Authors whose abstracts are accepted will be expected to pay Registration fees no later than June 10, 2011 in order to present their study at the Congress.

    The abstracts of the Congress will be published in THE JOURNAL OF HEART DISEASE, the official journal of the International Academy of Cardiology.
