alternatively, it can also be reached easily from Alghero airport (Fertilia).
Sardinia can also be reached by ferry, which offers the chance to take your car with you during your holidays on the island. Connections between the mainland and the island sail all year round, but are more frequent during the summer.
The ferry companies also use fast ferries capable of reaching Sardinia in about 6 hours. Sardinia can be reached from all the most important Italian ports: Genoa, Livorno, La Spezia and Civitavecchia (Rome).
The Sardinian ports best placed to reach La Maddalena are Olbia, Golfo Aranci and, a little further away, Porto Torres.
Connections are guaranteed all year round. In July and August, despite the increase in the number of crossings, it is advisable to book the trip in advance, both outbound and return, by contacting the ferry companies or travel agencies.
