    AWU Oil Drilling Rig Workers (Offshore Platform Drilling Rigs) Award 2001 [AP812665 Fed]

Clause 3 Area and Incidence

    3.1 This award shall apply in the Commonwealth of Australia and in the adjacent areas as defined

    in the Petroleum (Submerged Lands) Act in force from time to time whether Commonwealth

    or State as the case may be.

3.2 The award shall be binding upon The Australian Workers’ Union and their members and upon

    the employers listed in the Schedule of Respondents and their employees employed in or in

    connection with the operations of platform drilling rigs drilling for hydrocarbons and work

    incidental thereto in Bass Strait.

    3.3 Bass Strait as mentioned in clause 3.2 hereof shall be defined as that area extending from

    drilling lease Vic.p.14 in the West to drilling lease Vp-19 in the East and to drilling lease

    T/15p in the South.

Clause 3 - Area and Coverage

    3.1 This industrial award shall apply to employees on maintenance work on oil drilling rigs on fixed platforms located in Bass Strait employed in or in connection with the provision of oil well drilling services in the search for and production of hydrocarbons offshore and work incidental thereof. 3.2 Bass Strait shall be defined as that area in which current petroleum tenements, issued under the Petroleum (Submerged Lands) Acts, that apply to the Victorian Leases.

Clause 4 - Parties Bound

    4.1 This award is binding upon:

    4.1.1 The following organisations and their members:

    4.1.1(a) Automotive, Food, Metals, Engineering, Printing and Kindred Industries Union; and

    4.1.1(b) Communications, Electrical, Electronic, Energy, Information, Postal, Plumbing and

    Allied Services Union of Australia.

    4.1.2 The following employers:

    4.1.2(a) Atwood Oceanics Platforms Pty Ltd;

    4.1.2(b) Oil Drilling and Exploration Pty Ltd;

    4.1.2(c) Sundowner Offshore Services Inc.; and

    4.1.2(d) International Sea Drilling Ltd.

Clause 2 - Application and Scope of Award

    This award shall apply to the Australian Maritime Officers’ Union, the Australian Institute of Marine and Power Engineers, the Maritime Union of Australia, BHP Billiton Petroleum Pty Ltd, Newfield Petroleum Pty Ltd and to employees who are members or eligible to be members of the said organisations in respect of employment on the floating production facilities “Griffin Venture” operated

    by BHP Billiton Petroleum and the “Challis and Jabiru Ventures” operated by Newfield Petroleum.

    Clause 5 - Definitions

    5.7 Floating production facility is a floating vessel usually engaged at sea, whether propelled or non-propelled, and which may be disconnectable or permanently fixed to a mooring riser and which is used to recover, receive, process, store and despatch hydrocarbons to a shuttle tanker.

Clause 4 Coverage of the award

    4.1 This award applies to:

    a) The employers named as respondent to the Award; and

    b) The AIMPE, AMOU, and MUA; and

    c) Persons engaged or employed by an employer respondent in the classification or capacity of

    Master, Mate, Deck Officer, Shipwright, Chief Engineer, Engineering Officer (including

    Electrician), Chief Integrated Rating, Integrated rating, Marine Cook, Chief Steward / Caterer,

    or Catering Attendant.

    4.2 This award shall apply in respect of propelled vessels and non-propelled vessels (as defined in schedule 6 hereof) operated by those employers and engaged in connection with offshore oil and gas operations and includes vessels to which a respondent company is contracted to supply maritime labour.

    Clause 3 Definitions

    3.2 “AIMPE” means the Australian Institute of Marine and Power Engineers.

    3.14 “AMOU” means the Australian Maritime Officers Union.

    3.20 “MUA” means the Maritime Union of Australia.

    3.31 “Vessel” means a propelled or non-propelled vessel that may, but is not limited, to be used in navigation, construction or drilling and includes a ship, barge, drilling vessel or rig, crane vessel, floating production facility, tug boat, support vessel, supply vessel, standby/emergency vessel, pipe laying vessel, diving support vessel, lighter or like vessels, or any other vessel used in offshore and gas operations.
