Littlewoods announces Board re-organisation
Littlewoods Shop Direct Group, the UK’s leading home shopping retailer, has announced a
Board re-organisation to strategically align the marketing and product functions.
Chief Executive, Mark Newton-Jones, has created a new, main Board role of Trading Director, responsible for both Sales and Marketing and Buying and Merchandising.
David Inglis, Group Buying and Merchandising Director, will assume the new position with Clive Briscoe, Sales and Marketing Director, leaving the business.
The re-structure comes on the back of a strong Christmas trading performance with a 7% sales increase year on year, which was supported by strong online sales, up 44%. The Group’s lead online presence (Littlewoodsdirect.com) experienced a sales growth of 80% over the Christmas period.
Commenting, Mark Newton-Jones, said: “We are two years into our five year turnaround
and while we are pleased with our progress to date, this re-organisation is designed to ensure strategic alignment of the product and marketing teams.
David, joined the business a year ago from ASDA where he was Business Unit Director, Home and Leisure. He brings with him a wealth of product and marketing knowledge.
I would like to thank Clive for his extensive contribution in reshaping our business over the past 18 months. In this period, we have begun to re-brand the Littlewoods name as a credible retail proposition in the eyes of the consumer.”
