1. Jim Richard called the meeting to order.
2. The December meeting minutes were approved.
Lou Anna Angelle showed the committee publications from the National
Organization on Disability which included a poster on Partners in Preparedness
and a pamphlet from the National Emergency Resource Center (NEMRC).
4. OLD BUSINESS:
? Disabled Youths Sub-Committee - Donielle Watkins informed the
committee that the AmeriCorps members will be assisting with the
? Choose the Right Campaign – This item was deferred.
? Leadership Training - This item was deferred.
5. NEW BUSINESS:
? Agency Resource Fair – Deborah Aymond provided the committee with
the details regarding the upcoming Agency Resource Fair to be held on
February 12, 2010 at the Vermilion Conference Center for all Lafayette
High School Juniors and Seniors that receive Special Education Services.
? The following information was provided by Deborah Aymond:
? Several agencies, training facilities and service providers will have
? This fair will also provide students with several sessions on the
following topics: success skills, how to find a job, recreational
opportunities and others.

? Presentations will be provided for the parents on several topics
including wills and trusts.
? Jim Richard with Goodwill offered a free ticket to all teachers
involved to the Cajun Comedy Show.
? Curtis Chiles with the Lafayette Consolidated Government and
Donielle Watkins from D.R.E.A.M. are going to have a booth and do a
presentation regarding Recreation Opportunities.
6. The meeting was adjourned at 12:07 p.m.
7. The next meeting of the President’s Awareness Committee for Citizens with
Disabilities is scheduled for Monday, February 8, 2010, 11:30-12:30 in the
Council Briefing Room on the first floor of Lafayette City Hall.
