Junior Search Engine Optimiser (SEO)

We’re looking for a talented junior SEO to join our web team. The position is based in our Chicago office, working on our US web portfolio but will have our global SEO team for mentoring, training and strategic direction. This is the ideal place for a motivated, high energy junior SEO to prove themselves in an exciting environment with a wealth of opportunity for growth.
Working as part of the web team, the successful candidate will be responsible for the development and growth of our portfolio of websites under the guidance of the Director of SEO. They will undertake training and projects to rapidly develop competence in all aspects of SEO. Working closely with all areas of our business including Technology, Content and Marketing they will help to drive our SEO strategy and our website’s success forward.
Successful candidates will have online marketing skills or be a recent graduate in a related field. They should also have knowledge of how different search engines function, be familiar with pay per click engines, web stat programs, business ROI and also feel comfortable creating and presenting documents.
Our ideal candidate will be full of enthusiasm with a willingness to learn new skills to add to their existing ones. They will have their own favourite SEO tools and should be able to convince the whole team to use them. They will have a website clearly displaying their SEO skills. Our ideal candidate would have opinions about the cutting edge of SEO and would probably express them in a blog, forum or other medium where you vent, discuss and continually discover.
Essential duties and responsibilities include:
; Modify content, page titles, meta descriptions and main body text to improve ranking
potential (Very good XHTML knowledge).
; Monitor & manage sites with optimisation of markup and CSS
; Management of our master keyword lists including research and optimization
; Researching and evaluating competitors search engine optimisation tactics.
; Help troubleshoot ranking issues
; Help build and define rules and modules for content distribution
; Help identify opportunities for custom SEO content
; Keep up with changes to search engine technology by participating in forums, reading
white papers and articles including new patents filed by the major search engines -
feeding back to SEO team.
; An in-depth understanding of how the Internet works
; You will hold relevant web marketing experience and be proficient in the following
; A great working knowledge of CSS
; Some knowledge of web architecture and development ; You will need good communication skills
; Experience working with web analytics / stats packages ; Word, PowerPoint and Excel essential
; Full of ideas and a proactive team player
