Day One: The Authority of God
You were shown these things so that you might know that the LORD is God; besides him there is no other... Acknowledge and take to heart this day that the LORD is God in heaven above and on the earth below. There is no other. –Deuteronomy 4:35, 39
0 Lord God, You alone are our God, sovereign over all creation. There is no authority given but that which You give,
As we look to the elections this fall, may our nation acknowledge You as our highest authority. While many things vie for our interest, affections and attention, may we keep our eyes focused on You, acknowledging that You are God alone, the highest power to which we can appeal.

Day Two: God's Sovereign Will
The LORD does whatever pleases him in the heavens and on the earth, in the seas and all their depths. -;
Mighty God, Your will is sovereign and perfect, and You do as You see fit in the affairs of humankind and in all Your creation,
We acknowledge that we do not fully understand Your perfect will. Yet, we ask You to work through the election process this year to bring it about in our nation. We ask You to lift up those You want to lead our country, our states, our towns and villages and no others. May Your will be done by the citizens of our nation, and may You be honored and pleased in the results. Amen.
Day Three: God's Love for All Persons
For God so loved the world that He gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
gYour love for all persons staggers my imaination. Your compassion and concern for every living person
moves me to acknowledge my own inadequacy and weakness. Your love is without regard for race, gender or any of the concerns that divide us, Your children. You sent Your only Son, Jesus Christ, to powerfully demonstrate Your sweeping love for everyone to whom You have given life.
In the days leading up to this fall's elections, I ask that You reveal Your love to all citizens of our country y,so the, may respond to Your love and enter into relationship with You. May we see and experience
Your love anew as we prepare to vote this fall. In Your Holy name, Amen.
Day Four: God's Desire for Righteousness
The LORD loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of his unfailing love. --Psalm 33:5 Holy Lord God, All the earth is filled with Your glory and beauty, and your majesty fills the heavens. In Your glory You also declare that You desire Your people to long for righteousness. You love obedience and long for us to seek You and Your righteousness, 0 God. This day, may Americans earnestly desire righteousness. May we hunger to do good in Your eyes, to honor Your ways and to obey You in all things, particularly as we consider those for whom we will vote this fall. Stir up a hunger for righteousness in our nation, 0 God. Bring revival to America as we prepare to cast our votes this fall. Let each one determine to seek You and your righteousness as they cast their vote, Amen
Day Five: God's Plan for the Nations
After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands.--Revelation 7:9
0 Sovereign God, in Your Word You say that You long not only for individuals but for people of every kind-whether defined by government, tribe, clan or language-to bow before You in obedience and humility. As the only Sovereign God, the One to whom all our allegiance is due, we bow before You now. As we prepare to vote in this fall's elections, I ask You to draw our nation together in You, Let us come before You in repentance and humility, earnestly desiring Your will for our country. Unite us in revival and renewed faith in You as we consider those we will elect in November, Amen.
Day Six: God's Desire for Godly Leaders
Select capable men from all the people-men who fear God, trustworthy men who hate
dishonest gain. –Exodus 18:21
Awesome, God: You are awesome and mighty, lifting up those who You desire to lift up and putting down those You desire to put down. You love it when Your people come to You with longing for righteousness and godliness.
As our nation looks to the elections this fall, I ask that You will move among the people of our country, causing us to desire righteous, godly leaders. May we yearn for godly leaders and, desiring that, may we vote in such a way that we elect at every level those who will honor and obey You in godliness and wisdom. Amen.
Day Seven: The Reality of God's Kingdom
They will tell of the glory of Your kingdom and speak of Your might, so that all men may know of Your mighty acts and the glorious splendor of Your kingdom. Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and Your dominion endures through all generations, The LORD is faithful to all his promises and loving toward all he has made.--Psalm 145:11-13
Lord God, Your Kingdom is mighty and great, and You remind us in Your Word that Yours is different from the kingdoms and governments of our world. You reign over all people, over all rulers, over all powers. You are exalted above every authority, and You alone give authority to anyone who has it. As our nation looks to the elections this fall, may we remember that we have a higher allegiance than to our humanly-ordained government. May we remember that we are citizens of Heaven whose destination is known! Remind us that we will gather around Your throne one day, and until then, we serve Your purposes in our world. Amen
Day Eight: Acknowledging the Kingdom of God
[Let] Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. --Matthew 6:10 0 marvelous God, You reign in glory and majesty in Heaven. All things bow to your will and your rule in Heaven. Your perfect will is done in all things and in all ways. Your power is unequaled and all beings lift their praise to You in constant exultation and joy.
We ask for those realities-of longing for Your will-to characterize our dealings as a nation. As we consider the candidates for the office of President and of elected officials at every level, may we cooperate with You to enact Your will. Glorify Yourself, Lord, through your people this fall! Bring Your will to be done in these elections and let us remember to offer thanks and praise to You when we see your will revealed! Amen.
Day Nine: The Supremacy of God's Truth
I, the LORD, speak the truth; I declare what is right. --Isaiah 45:19
Awesome God, You are the source of all truth. There is no truth to be found anywhere in all creation apart from You. All your words and ways are true and Your righteous laws last forever. I praise You for that truth today, and acknowledge that I want my life and my ways to be aligned with Your truth. Father God, as we look to the elections this fall, it is sometimes difficult for us to know what is true and what is not. We struggle to discern outcomes from the words that candidates speak. May our nation be bathed in Your truth throughout this election season. Grant a discerning spirit to your people that we may not follow the one who is most attractive, brave, clever or charming, but that we may long for and ultimately discern the truth with Your help. Amen.
Day Ten: Campaigns that are Positive/Glorifying to God
Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into Him who is the Head, that is, Christ.–
0 Lord God, You are supreme over all things and all persons and all powers. I proclaim your glory and your authority and might. You have put all things in place, and You rule in truth and beauty. You do not deceive nor are You deceived by anyone.
I confess that sometimes I get wrapped up in the claims, accusations and fervor of the candidates. Give, 0 Lord, a discerning spirit and the ability to tell who is speaking truth and who is not. As we move toward this fall's elections, let the cunning, crafty or deceitful be revealed, 0 God, and let those who speak the truth do so in love. Let them speak truth in the power of Your love, that we may as a nation be discerning and wise this election. Amen.
Day Eleven: For Prayer to Remain a Key Issue in the Campaign
Pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.--Ephesians 6:18
Loving God, You initiate every part of our relationship with You. Thank You for being a loving, reaching God who longs for fellowship and intimacy with us. Thank You for the blessing and privilege of prayer so we may speak with You about all our needs and concerns. We praise You for how You have moved through the prayers of Your people. You have brought great change to our nation as You have answered our prayers.
As we approach the elections this fall, may we remain prayerful, intimately connected in conversation with You. Moreover, may matters of prayer and faith remain in the news throughout the election, keeping our attention and our hearts focused on You. We thank You for causing prayer to be spoken of prominently in this election, and we ask that You continue drawing many hearts to You by causing the candidates to speak of their belief in, their practice of and their reliance on prayer to You. Amen Day Twelve: For Faith in God to Remain a Key Issue in the Campaign
0 LORD, You are my God; I will exalt You and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness You have done marvelous things, things planned long ago.--Isaiah 25:1
0 Exalted Lord, You reign in perfect faithfulness over us-as individuals and as a nation. You have done great and mighty things in this country, and I praise and thank You for your goodness to us throughout history, When You move visibly in America, we are quick to speak of Your power and might. Forgive us for seasons when we ignore You or look the other way as You reveal Yourself.
The issue of religious faith has been prominent throughout parts of this campaign. Lord, may that continue and grow, that concerns of faith in You will remain vital in the campaign. May we long for godly candidates who speak of You and acknowledge their willingness to bring their lives, administrations and decisions before You in humility and submission. I ask this in Your name, Amen Day Thirteen: For Candidates to Feel Freedom to Speak Openly About Faith
I do not hide your righteousness in my heart, I speak of your faithfulness and salvation. I do not conceal your love and your truth from the great assembly.–Psalm 40:10
Loving God, in Your goodness and love You have sought us out and offered us the free gift of salvation. We praise and glorify You for such extraordinary love. We thank You for saving us from death and hell and unrighteousness, for these lead to our destruction. By our faith in You we are made alive.
in this campaign may those running for the presidency and other public offices speak openly of their faith and convictions, acknowledging sources and expressing belief. May there be such a climate of openness and discourse about faith that all persons can make clear and informed decisions about icandidates. Let none of the canddates hide their true faith, but let them speak openly and with
freedom. Thank You, Holy God. Amen.
Day Fourteen: For All Americans to Uphold the Elections in Prayer
They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers. --Acts 1:14
Holy God, You give us the gift of communication with You through prayer. You promise to guide us and lead us if we turn to You. I thank You for the gift of prayer, that I may speak with You at any time and at all times! Because You are timeless, You hear all our prayers no matter when we offer them. As the elections approach, I ask You to stir our nation to prayer. May we be constant and consistent in faithfully upholding our nation and these elections before You in heartfelt prayer. Lord, grant that we may invite others into the blessing of prayer, bringing revival and renewal to our nation. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Day Fifteen: For Candidates to Conduct Campaigns with Truthfulness and Candor
They sent their disciples to him along with the Herodians. "Teacher," they said, "we know you are a man of integrity and that you teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. You aren't swayed by men, because you pay no attention to who they are.--Matthew 22:16
Lord God, Your glory and majesty are known to us through Your kindness. In Your goodness, You chose to reveal Yourself to us. You know all hearts and You discern our motives in ways we cannot discern. You are wise and good and truthful in all things.
Today I ask that You bring truthfulness and candor to the campaigns and elections. Let those running each campaign, regardless of the office, choose truth and clarity over deception and guile. Let the truth about any candidate for office, from the local level to the White House, be brought forward so we can honor You with our loyalties and our votes, Amen.
Day Sixteen: For Voters to Stay Tuned In to the Electoral Process
Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress. --I Timothy 4:15
Awesome God, all things are Yours, and your mercy and goodness characterize the works of Your hands. Your love for all persons and peoples has been shown from the beginning of time when You poured out blessings on Your people. You are the Lord of history and time. All truth is found in You, Mighty God. I ask that the citizens of our great country will remain keenly interested in the election process from this day forward to Election Day. Let us long and hunger for the news of what You are doing in the campaigns and candidates' lives. Lord, I pray that we will take time and effort required to stay engaged
in the election process so that we may faithfully do Your will, Thank You for the gift and blessing of citizenship. May every American exercise their freedom and stay informed and engaged until Election Day. Amen
Day Seventeen: For Members of the Media to Remain Open, Forthcoming and Truthful Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his neighbor, for we are all members of one body. --Ephesians 4:25
Loving Lord, You are the God of all Truth, and there is nothing impure or false in You. You bring all things to light, and nothing is hidden from Your sight. Before You all things are laid bare and every detail, whether large or small is known. All praise and glory to You, 0 Mighty God!
I ask You to move and work among the members of the media this day, 0 Lord, keeping them from any form of falsehood. Let them lift up only what is true in these campaigns, Lord, that as a nation we may be discerning as we consider those whom we will elect to the offices of our government. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Day Eighteen. For Issues of Faith and Prayer to Remain Key in This Election
Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." -- John 8:32
Holy Lord God, You are strong, mighty and powerful, and You move among us so that we cannot miss Your presence and activity in the world. You reveal Yourself in the beauty, love and kindness that surround us. You know all things, and all things are revealed by You and before You. How I praise You, God, that prayer has been freely spoken of during this election! I ask that the importance of prayer will remain key in this election as the date draws near. May all citizens long for the truth that is available only in You, and may they find that truth and the freedom that accompanies it. Amen.
Day Nineteen: For Candidates to Sincerely Portray Their Faith
Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. --Hebrews 10:22
Thank You 0 gracious, loving God that You have provided the way for every person on earth to be cleansed of sin and guilt. Thank You for the sacrifice of Your Son, Jesus Christ, whose blood washes us clean and leads us to our heavenly home. All honor and glory to You 0 God!
As the candidates continue their campaigns right up to Election Day, Lord, may they freely share their faith with honesty and candor. Lord, let there be such a climate in our country that we welcome expressions of faith in You. Give the candidates discernment and wisdom, God, as they speak of their beliefs, and give us, Your people, wisdom as we consider how we will vote. May Your will be done as the truth is revealed. Amen.
Day Twenty: For the American People to Be Discerning of Candidates
The wise in heart are called discerning, and pleasant words promote instruction. --Proverbs 21:16 Holy God, all wisdom and knowledge begin with You. You alone hold eternity and truth in Your hands. Discernment comes from You and You see and discern all motives and purposes of humankind. You are awesome and wise 0 Holy God!
0 Lord, we are getting to know these candidates better than we'd ever imagined. And yet, we wonder if we do know them as well as we ought. So I ask that You will give to the people of our nation a spirit of wisdom and discernment that we may be able to look on the candidates for office and see them as You see them. This I ask in Your name, Amen.
Day Twenty One: For Candidates to Express Their Views on Issues Candidly
To man belong the plans of the heart, but from the LORD comes the reply of the tongue. All a man's ways seem innocent to him, but motives are weighed by the LORD.--Proverbs 16:1-2
Mighty Lord, God, You know all things, and nothing is hidden from You—even the deepest intentions of
hearts. Your knowledge and authority rule over all the affairs of humankind, and Your ways govern over all our ways. I praise You today for the way You understand and weigh our words, thoughts and motives.
As candidates continue to seek our votes, speaking with us about their plans, may they freely share their intentions with candor so that we may discern with wisdom who best deserves our vote. Grant that the deepest desires of the candidates' hearts will be seen and known, and give to us Your discernment as we listen and observe. Amen.
Day Twenty Two: For Candidates Who Desire to Do God's Will
Teach me to do your will, for You are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground. --Psalm 143:10
0 Holy God, Your will is Sovereign and all creation is subject to Your will in obedience and love. You lead those who love You in the way they should go, and You promise to guide us through all circumstances, whether easy or difficult.
0 Lord, today I ask You to look on the candidates running for office this year, from the presidency to local office, and put in their hearts a desire to honor You and to faithfully know and do Your will. Let them seek You earnestly in prayer, with longing to hear from You every day and in every decision. Thank You for your willingness to lead us in every circumstance. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Day Twenty Three: For Candidates Who Will Consult with God As They Lead
I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you. --Psalm 32:8
Loving God, Your kindness extends to all You have made. You show your awesome love day to day as You reveal Yourself in manifold ways. Thank You for Your many promises to lead and guide us when we consult with You in humility and love.
As we move toward this year's elections, God, I pray for leaders who will turn to You as they lead. Give to us those persons who desire to do Your will and who will consult with You in every decision. Thank You for Your love and guidance, Amen
Day Twenty Four: For Candidates Who Will Be Uncompromisingly Honest and Faithful as They Serve I know, my God, that You test the heart and are pleased with integrity. All these things have I given willingly and with honest intent.--I Chronicles 29:17
0 Father God, in You is all truth and integrity. You are glorious and righteous and You do not deceive or hide from us. We thank You that we can fully trust in You.
We pray today for You to move across our nation with a longing for integrity and righteousness among our people. We especially pray that those who run for office and those who are elected to office this year will be persons of integrity. Cause their hearts to move willingly with honest intent, Father, that integrity will characterize these elections and the administrations that result from them. Thank You, Father. Amen. Day Twenty Five: For Candidates to Walk in the Fear of God, Turning Their Backs on Evil Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil. --Proverbs 3:7
0 Majestic God, Your power and might are beyond the reach of my imagination. You are to be feared for Your majesty and glory. Today I am in awe of You and Your supremacy over everything. Lord, as I seek to have a proper fear and reverence of You in my life, grant that those running for office will grow in their understanding of You and will come to reverence and fear You as You deserve. Show each one that they can trust in You, and indeed they will fare far better if they do trust in You rather than relying on their own wisdom. May they hunger for You and in so doing, turn from evil. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Day Twenty Six: For Candidates Who Will Seek Insight and Understanding from God First For the LORD gives wisdom, and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding. --Proverbs 2:6 All-wise God, thank You that knowledge and understanding are found in You alone. You are the source of all wisdom, and I praise You for offering to us Your bountiful insight and understanding. 0 Lord, You know the personal habits and disciplines of each candidate running for office. Today, I ask You to move in their lives, causing them to seek You first whenever they are faced with a decision, no matter how large or small. The temptation to trust in our own wisdom is great for us all. May You be there, helping our candidates to seek Your wisdom and understanding first. Amen
Day Twenty Seven: For Candidates Who Will Surround Themselves with Godly, Wise Counsel
For lack of guidance a nation falls, but many advisers make victory sure. --Proverbs 11:14 Mighty God, all praise to You today for Your goodness, Your might and Your supreme wisdom. Thank You for choosing to live in us through Jesus Christ. Thank You for making us one in You. Today, I pray for the candidates running for office, thanking You that You have surrounded each with advisers who consult with them on matters of great importance. 0 God, may the candidates and those who advise them be schooled in the habit of consulting with You on all things. Let them turn to You at a moment's notice to ask for wisdom and understanding as they lead. Amen.
Day Twenty Eight: For Candidates Who Will Seek God's Truth in the Scriptures Daily
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.--Colossians 3:16 Living Lord, I praise You today for the truth of Your Holy Word. It's alive, guiding and instructing us every day. Thank You for speaking to us in our need through Your powerful Word.
Today I ask that You remind each candidate for office, whether high or low, that they can rely on Your Word day by day. Show them its practicality and help in their personal lives, relationships and decisions. I ask that each one will be drawn to the Scriptures daily, answering the longing of their hearts to live in truth and to know You better. Amen.
Day Twenty Nine: For Candidates to Worship Regularly and Have a Sound Church Experience Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.--Hebrews 10:25
Loving God, I praise You that You have made us with a need for fellowship—fellowship with You and
fellowship with each other. Thank You for answering this deepest need of our hearts with the gift of the Church.
Today I ask that the candidates running for office in our country will grow in their commitment to the local church. May they long for the sweet fellowship of Your people, and may they make worship and fellowship with their congregation a priority in their lives, today and in the years to come. Amen. Day Thirty: For Candidates Who Will Listen to God as They Seek to Keep America Safe from Terror Attacks
But whoever listens to me will live in safety and be at ease, without fear of harm. –Proverbs 1:33
Mighty God, You alone are sovereign and all-knowing, and You see all peoples as they seek dominion and acclaim in the world. You lift up nations and You break them down. We thank You for building up our nation and making it great in the world. Yet we know we are not without sin, and we are vulnerable to attack from many sides. Thank You for Your continued protection over our country.
Lord, I ask that through this election You will raise up leaders who will take seriously the responsibility to keep our nation safe from every kind of attack. Give great insight into the events taking place in the world, and help them to consult with You as they lead, so they may lead without fear. Amen. Day Thirty-One: For Candidates Who Will Inspire Bi-Partisan Cooperation Among Members of Congress
How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity! --Psalm 133:1
Holy God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit! How wonderfully You dwell and work together 0 awesome Three in One! You model for us the beauty of oneness as You work in Your Kingdom in complete and perfect unity. You love to see Your children mimic Your oneness and accord.
As we pray for new, God-led leaders in the coming elections, we ask that they will be leaders who inspire unity and cooperation between all factions and interests in our nation. Give us leaders who can reach into all political parties, belief systems and contingents in our nation so we may be united in You to serve Your highest purposes in the world. Amen.
Day Thirty-Two: For Candidates to Receive Their Vision for the Nation from God
Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.--Proverbs 29:18 (KJV)
Awesome God, You see all and You know all! You rule over history and time yet you are neither bound nor governed by them. I praise You because You are sovereign and You know both the beginning and the end of history—they are Yours! Today I lift up the candidates for the Office of the President asking that
they will seek Your will as they lead. Lord, may they
receive their plans, visions and initiatives from You, in accord with Your laws and principles. 0 Lord I ask that You bring joy and blessing to our country through the godly leaders who are elected this year. Amen.
Day Thirty-Three: For Leaders Who Will Lead With Creativity and Wisdom
Sow for yourselves righteousness, reap the fruit of unfailing love, and break up your unplowed ground; for it is time to seek the LORD, until He comes and showers righteousness on you.--Hosea 10:12
Creator God, You made the world and everything in it. You blessed it all and said it was good, and you gave to us the powerful gift of creativity. I thank You for that and for the way that You continue to be gift
glorified through the gifts of creativity that You lavish on all You have made.
As I pray for those who will be elected this fall, I ask You to give us leaders who will use their God-given gift of creativity and insight to break up the unplowed ground that is right before their eyes. May they receive from You new ways of seeing our nation, her resources, her problems and possible solutions to those problems. 0 Lord, give us godly and creative leaders who long for Your righteousness and who live in Your love. Amen.
