DOUGLAS COUNTY MULTIMODAL TRANSPORTATION CENTER
The Transportation Center is located on a 15.18-acre site behind the Douglas County Courthouse. The address is 8800 Dorris Road, Douglasville, GA 30134. The Transportation Center was dedicated May 3, 2003. Its interior and exterior design is similar to the Courthouse.
The Transportation Center was designed and built to aid Douglas County’s efforts to improve air quality and reduce traffic congestion. The county believes having a facility such as the Transportation Center will convince more local commuters to try alternatives to the single occupant vehicle, which is the region’s biggest contributor to dirty air and traffic problems.
Since 1986, the county’s Rideshare program has been offering vanpool service to metro Atlanta work locations, assisting commuters in forming carpools, and participating in regional planning for public transportation. Rideshare occupies the Transportation Center and is responsible for its day-to-day operation. The Transportation Center opened in April 2003.
