    This manual applies to the installation to all ONU 204i-h versions

    Brief introduction

    This manual mainly provides an introduction to the mechanical structure and installation procedures of ONU 204i-h made by UTStarcom, in order to offer normative suggestions and reference data to engineering and technicians for ONU installation and opening.

    To help readers better the understanding of this manual, some agreements over format, standard and action have been made in this manual as shown in the table below: Format agreement:

    Format Explanation

    Things displayed on the terminal screen shall be in Courier New, including

    configuration files, system output files, commands, such as login. Font: Courier New Besides, contents manually input by users, when displayed as system output

    information, will be in bold type, such as: Password: ******.

    < > Contained in angular brackets are button names, such as: click button

    This means that users need to press these keys at the same time; for example, + Shift+ D> requires users to press Ctrl, Shift and D at the same time.

    Contained in square brackets are menu items, spreadsheets and field names. For

    example, / stands for contents of multilevel menu under the Filemenu, ?, like in tool/revise/ compare-merge filewhich refers to selection of

    compare-merge fileunder the Revisemenu in the main menu of Tool

    Radio buttons, check boxes, tabs, listBoxes and windows will all be contained in “ ” “”, such as select “Save” tab.

    Please read carefully and abide by all matters that need attention as indicated in this manual on the product.

    ; When AC power source is available, apply a two-wire single-phase system. The two

    wires are respectively a live wire and a zero wire, and power connection should be

    properly earthed.

    ; Before installation, check compliance of AC or DC input voltage with rated value and

    whether the polarity of DC power and grounding are correct.

    ; When connecting equipment located at different places, possible potential difference

    among different grounding wires may damage the equipment or cause performance

    deviation. Therefore, such potential difference must be eliminated before connection. ; Please ware an electrostatic ring when plugging, unplugging or touching the circuit

    since static discharge may damage the equipment.

    ; The equipment room should comply with relevant rules in the native country. ; Never put weight on or walk on the power cable; install protecting plates if necessary. ; Cooling holes on the frame or stander have been designed to prevent overheating of

    equipment, and mustn’t be covered during running.

    ; If the circuit board is to be repaired, symptoms and relevant information must be

    specified in the guarantee form. Besides, the circuit board should first be put into static

    screen bag and wrapped in mats before being packaged together with the guarantee

    form and being returned to the UTStarcom for an overhaul.
