Henry Sibley High hosting dance-team championship
WEST ST. PAUL, MENDOTA HEIGHTS, EAGAN – Henry Sibley High School in
Mendota Heights is hosting the Classic Suburban Conference dance team championships on Saturday, Jan. 14, beginning at 11 a.m. with jazz/funk routines. The high-kick competition begins at 1 p.m. More than 200 dancers are expected to compete on varsity and junior varsity teams. Going into the championship round, three teams are within a point in the quest to place first: Henry Sibley, Simley, and South St. Paul.
Last year’s Henry Sibley team won the conference title for the first time ever, according to Barbara-Ann March, president of the Dance Team Booster Club. This year’s team is
coached by Molly Vasterling, a professional dancer and choreographer whose credits include choreographing a Super Bowl half-time show and dancing for the Timberwolves. She is also a regional and national dance-competition judge.
