    Abstract.Wemadeanexperimentalstudyandanalysison therelationshipsbetweenfiltrationcollectingefficiencyand porosity,tiberdiameter,andparticlesdiametersfor differentialporositymediawhenfibrousmediacollecting lube-oil.Theinfluencingextentofporosity.dust concentration,andvelocityimpactingoncollecting efficiencywereresearchedbyorthogonalexperimentaltest. Theresultsshowedthatporosityhadthebestsalience affectionOllcollectingefficiency,andtheaffectionof velocityanddustconcentrationwasless.Tllcmainfactors ofimpactingoncollectingefficiencywereporosity,fiber diameter,particlesdiameter,dustconcentration,filtration timeandfiltrationvelocity.Thecorrelationformulabetween collectingefficiencyandporosity,aperturediameter,fiber diameter,particlesdiameter,thethicknessofmedia,and filtrationtimewasobtained.Itcanforecastthecollecting efficiencyoflube-oilfiltrationmediaandprovideaguidefor selectingsuitablefibmusfiltrationmedia.

    Introduction

    Filtrationmediawastheimportantcomponentoflube- oilfilterandthemaininfluencingfactoroffiltration performance.Thestudyofrelationshipbetweenfiltration performanceoffibrousmediaanditsinfluencingfactors wasveryimportantforprovidingabasisofreasonable selectingfiltrationmedia.Aerosolparticlesemissionsand filtrationfordieselparticulateindieselenginetoreduce emissionandcontrolpollutionwerestudiedinRefs.[1

    1.1Relationshipbetweencollectingefficiencyand porosity

    Thebiggerparticlescanbecollectedbyintercept mechanismandthesmallerparticlescanbecollectedby Brownmovesandinertiacollisionmechanismwhen

    particlesflowacrossthefiltrationmedia[.Sotheporosity ofmediaanddistributionofaperturewasanimportant influencefactoroncollectingefficiencyandpressure dropL.Thispapermadefiltrationefficiencyexperimental testsonsomedifferentialporosityofcleanmediatoobtain therelationshipcurvesbetweenfracturecollecting efficiencyandporosityinconditionsthatvelocitywas 0.002m/sandlube-oildustconcentrationwas0.02kg/m. ExperimentalapparatusweremadebyU.Experimental apparatusandprinciplewereshowninFigs.12,andthe

Thecurvesofrelationshipbetweencollectingefficiencyand distributionofparticlediameterwereshowninFig.5.The collectingefficiencyincreaseforallkindsoffibrousmedia washigherwhenparticlediameterwasmorethan30m. Thecollectingefficiencyhadsomedifferencewhenparticle diameterWas10mtO20m.

    where,dpisparticlediameter,andcoefficientsofA1, A2,3,A4couldbedeterminedbyexperimentaltest. Theirvaluesvariedwithdifferentkindsoffiltrationmedia. Correlationcoefficientofal1kindsoffiltrationmediawas 0.99.Itshowedthatcollectingefficiencyhadconsanguineous correlationrelationshipwithparticlediameterwhichwas collectedbyfiltrationmedia.

    collectingefficiencywasdecreasingwithfiltrationtime increasingininitialphase;thecollectingefficiencywas increasingslowlyinmiddlephase;andincreasingrapidly withfiltrationtimeincreasing.Therewassmallest instantaneotkscollectingefficieracyormaximalratioof penetrationinwholefiltrationprocess.Thetimewhen maximalcollectingefficiencyoccuredwasvariedwith differentmedia.Themoresmallertheparticlediameter was,themorebiggervariedextentwasinfinialfiltration phase.Collectingefficiencywaslowerwhenporosityof filtrationmediawasmorebigger.

    Thecollectingefficiencywasrelativelowerwhen particlediameterwassmallerthanmostapertureof paper.'".Moreandmoreparticlesdepositedinthe surfaceofpapertoformthedustcakewhoseconfiguration becamemoredensene~withparticlesdeposingwhen filtrationtimewasincreasing.Diameterofaperturewas decreasingsothatcollectingefficiencyofcollectingminute particlewasincreasingcontinuously.Thecollecting efficiencywasincreasingrapidlybecausemoreandmore minuteparticleswascollected,whichdecreasedthe diameterofapertureandincreasedthecollectingefficiency duringfinialfiltrationphases.

    Wemadeanorthogonalanalysisofrelationships betweencollectingefficiencyandporosity,filtration velocity.anddustconcentration.Theresultswefeshown inTable1.
