    0.8)witl1thediameterof2mmwerefabricated.Inthe(Fe,Co)-BSiNb.Y

    BMGs,whentheFecontentincreased,thethermalstability,thesupercooledliquidregion,andtheglassformingability(GFA)decreased,

    1.IntroductiOil

    Fe-basedbulkmetallicglassesfBMGs)havebeendraw- ingincreasingaUentionbecauseoftheirgoodmechanical propertiesandsoftmagneticproperties.Inoueresearch groupreposedthatFeCoB.Si-Nballoyshadgood

    glassformingabilities(GFA)[1-3],especiallyforthe [(Fe1Ox)o75B02Sio05196Nb4bull(glassyalloyswithasu- per-highstrengthofover4000MPa4].Itwasalsoreported

    thatFe-basedbulkglassyalloyshadahighsaturatedmag- neficfluxdensityofabout1.5T5.InthisPer,theeffects

    oftheaddingamountofyttriumandthechangingofFe/Co atomicratioontheGFAandmagneticpropertieswerestud- iedinthe(Fe.Co).BSi_Nbsystem.

    withthediameterof2or3rnlrlwerepreparedbycopper moldcastingtraderanargonatmosphere.Thepurityofele. mentswasabout99wt%forFe,Co,Si,Nb,Y,andFeBa1. 1oy.Thealloycompositionrepresentedthenominalatomic percentage.Eachalloywasremeltedatleastthreetimesto ensureitscompositionhomogeneity.

    Structuralidentificationofthesealloyswascarriedoutby -raydiffractionfXRD,RigakuDMAX2200VPC, X

    monochromaticCuradiation).Thethermalproperties weremeasuredbydifferentialscanningcalorimetry(DSC,

    111133.AIlthesamplesshowobviouslysharpcrystallinedif- fractionpeakswhichindicatethatnoBMGsareobined.

    BycomparisonwiththeOthers.thesamplewith4at%Y showslowercrystallineXRDpeaks.thatiS,thisalloyhasa higherGFA.

    InFe-basedmetallicglasses.itwasreportedmatthe Fe_Nb.BandFe.RE.B(RE.rareearthelement)basedglassy alloyshadnetworklikeatomicconfigurations.Thenet

    work-likeatomicstructuresformedmetastabledistorted trigonalprisms,andFeandBatomswereconnectedwith eachotherinedgeandface.sharedconfigurationmodes throughglueatomsofNborREatoms[78].Thenet-

    work-likeatomicconfigurationswereveryeffecfiveforthe suppressionoflong-rangerearrangementsoftheconstituent elements,whichwerenecessaryfortheprogressofcrysta1. 1ization[1].Tl1eFez3B6phasewasinametastablestateand hadacomplexfacecenteredcubic(fcc,slructurewitha

    largelatticeparameterof1.12amincluding96atoms[9], whichseemedtoplayanimportantroleintheachievement ofgoodGFA.Yttriumalsocouldformmegaatomclusters, Fe23Y6,whichwasmucheasiertogetdistortedattherapid coolingprocess.TheoptimumamountofYcouldimprove theglassformationabilityof(Fe,Co)-B-Si-Nballoys. Fig.7showsthetypicalhysteresisloopsof

    4.Conclusion

    Inthe(Fe0.5Co0.5)72B19.2Si4.sNb4system,abulkmetallic glassyrodwiththediameterof2mmwasobtainedbycopper mouldcasting.However.evenlat%6at%ofyariumwasin.

    troducedintothe[(Fe05Co0.5)072B01928ioo48Nbood,x (x--061alloys.nofullyamorphousrodswiththediameterof 3nlminthealloyswereformed.Bycomparison,thesample with4at%yr~umhadahigherglass-formingability.Inthe [(Fel.072B0.1925i0.o48Nbo.o4196Y4.O0.50.8)samples,

    withtheFe/Coatomicratioincreasingfrom5:5to7:3,the bulkglassyalloyrodswiththediameterof2mlnwerefab

    ricated.AstheFecontentincreased,thethermalstability, thesupercooledliquidregion(at0.andtheglassforming

    abilitydecreased.Thesaturationmagnetizations)of

    [(Fel_xCo,)072Bo.1928ioo48Nbo.o4]96Y4O(=0.5,0.6,and0.7) were71.2,84.7,and91.6A.mlkg_,respectively.Whenthe Fe/Coatomicratioincreasedfrom5:5to7:3,theMsofthe alloysincreased.
