    TheCTPIVtypecatalystforhydrofiningterephthalicacid (TA)featureshighpalladiumdispersion,smallcrystalff~grain size,highPdcontentandgoodsupportstability.Thiscata

    lysthasbeenoperatingincommercialscaleformorethan oneyearinthe400kt/aPTAunitatSPSC,deliveringprod- uctswithstablequality,andthecontinuousoperatingcycle, dailyhighestoutput,averagedailyoutputandtreating throughputareallenhanced,showingthatthecatalystper

    formanceisbetterthantheimportedcatalysts.

    ThecommercialtesthasrevealedthattheCTP-IVtypecata-

    lysthashighactivityandselectivity,highabilityfortreating 4-carboxybenzylaldehyde,goodsulfurtoleranceandantidis

    turbanceability,andlongcatalystlifewithitscomprehen

    siveperformanceonaparwithinternationallyadvancedleve1. PilotTestofEthyleneGlycolManufacture

    TheCASLanzhouInstituteofChemicalPhysicshasper

    formedthewholeprocessdevelopmentcoveringthesynthe

    sisofethyleneglycolviatransesterificationofmethanolwim

    vinylcarbonateobtainedthroughthereactionofethylene oxidewithCO2alongwithCOproductionofdimethyl

    carbonate.Currentlythisdevelopmentworkisinthepilot testingphase.

    Thistechnologytakingintoaccountthehighdemandfor glycolqualityhasdevelopedatubularrecyclereactionpro

    cesssuitableformassproduction,thereactionformanufac

    tureofglycolwithCOproductionofdimethylcarbonate,the separation/couplingprocess,andthecatalyticrefiningofeth

    yleneglycolproduct,toprovidetechnicalsupporttothecheap 60

    andcommercialproductionofethyleneglycolandmasspro

    ductionofcheapdimethylcarbonatewithadefinitetechnical potentialandeconomicbenefits.

    EthyleneglycolisthekeyfeedstockformanufactureofPET. Thereisabiggapbetweenthesupplyanddemandforethyl

    eneglycolinChina,andthecurrentproductavailabilityCan

    notmeetthedemandofrelevantindustries.Dimethylcarbon? ateisagreenenvironmentallybenignchemicalwhichhas attractedbroadattentionbothinsideandoutsideofChina, sinceitsdownstreamproductsincludingthepolycarbonates, theisocyanates,thehighenergybatteryandtheelectrolyte
