Club Med The Beginnings

In Post-war France, Belgian water polo champion, Gerard Blitz, restless for new adventures

    and fired by stories of a simple lifestyle on silver sands and crystal seas, set off to explore the

    Mediterranean and returned ready to put his dream into place.

In 1950, Gerard Blitz invited a few hundred guests to join him for a month of sun-drenched

    bliss in Alcudia on the island of Majorca, at a very affordable price. They called it „Club Med‟

    The new jewel of Club Med has opened in Mauritius with the announcement of La Plantation d'Albion as the first 5-trident village in the group‟s collection of upscale resorts – the highest luxury

    rating which Club Med gives to any of its villages.

Known as an exclusive celebrity hangout, Mauritius is fast becoming the Indian‟s Ocean‟s favorite

    luxury holiday destination with its white sand beaches, tropical location and temperate climate, dive-friendly coral reefs, multi cultural population and friendly culture steeped in history.

    On the west coast of the dream destination of Mauritius, overlooking the Indian Ocean, the 21 hectare La Plantation d‟Albion offers an idyllic location between majestic mountains and a crystal clear coastline. In a bay framed by two white sandy beaches, wide open spaces and romantic sunsets, the new village offers luxurious accommodation, gourmet dining and exquisite pampering.

    The Village features 266 luxurious fully equipped rooms - all with large furnished outside terraces or balconies, including 30 suites of 70 square meters with outstanding facilities including a separate lounge, private garden, outdoor rain shower and luxurious oversized bed. The interiors are clean and fresh based on a neutral colour palette inspired by the island of Mauritius, comprised largely of refined light woods with dark accents, bamboo and taupe-coloured materials.

    The resort has been designed by Marc Hertrich, a graduate from the Boule school in Paris, who started his career with Michel Boyer in the late 1960s and later began his own successful company working in luxury design and architecture for jewellery shops, restaurants, and hotels.

    Dining at La Plantation d‟Albion is a delight for the eyes and the palette, where menus have been inspired by the Mauritius culture and the village boasts a “Table coup de Coeur” (favourite cuisine) restaurant.

    Gourmet dining is available at both restaurants of the village: the Main Restaurant which serves a wide selection of international cuisine with indoor and outdoor seating, and the intimate „favourite cuisine‟ restaurant “Le Phare”. As the “table Coup de Coeur” restaurant, Le Phare has invented its own Creole cuisine which fuses the influences of Africa and Asia with spices and an array of colours and aromas, and specializes in fresh seafood and poultry dishes.

    During the day and late into the night, guests can refresh themselves at one of the resort‟s three bars: the Main Bar with sweeping sea view and casual lounge ambiance, the Beach Bar located close to the water sports activities, and the poolside Creole Bar.

    Club Med‟s concept allows people the freedom of doing everything or nothing on their holiday. For those wishing for active luxury, exciting sports and recreation facilities are on offer. Six tennis courts, a golf driving range, sports courts for handball, basket ball and volleyball, a multi purpose gymnasium, football pitch, bowls, and archery plus a host of beach and water sports including volleyball, snorkeling, and sailing. Scuba diving and scuba diving courses are also available at the underwater diving centre, with Mauritius being renowned for its underwater beauty.

Club Med has introduced a new, all-inclusive concept to their villages - an open bar and

    snacking” service all day and all evening.

Understanding that people want to live their holiday at their own pace and choose when and what

    to eat and drink, the new initiative allows guests to focus on freedom, spending the day doing what

    they want to do without the worry of fixed dining times. Late breakfast, late lunch… guests can choose to eat and drink as and when they wish at no extra cost!

As part of the new package, a variety of delicious food snacks are on offer entirely at guests

    convenience throughout the day and evening quick and tasty sweet and salted snacks are available ranging from local food specialties crisp fresh salads, exotic fresh fruit platters, chesses,

6. Club Med Asia Pacific Top management biographies

Caroline Puechoultres

    President and CEO of Club Med Asia Pacific

Caroline‟s mission is to accelerate Club Med‟s growth in Asia Pacific by reinforcing marketing and

    commercial strategies in the region. She will also be working on new business development with

    the opening of new markets and new villages in unique and high potential destinations. Caroline

    aims to enrich Club Med‟s premium all-inclusive offer in line with the new upscale strategy.

Caroline took up the position in 2006. She is no stranger of Club Med, having moved to Asia from

    Club Med‟s head office in France, where she held the position of VP Strategic Marketing Director

    for Club Med worldwide and member of the Management Committee Board, since 2003.

Previously to Club Med, Caroline worked in a diverse range of marketing directorship positions,

    working for companies like Disney Télévision France (2002 2003), European Internet Provider, Tiscali France Liberty Surf (2000 2002) and French TV Group M6 (1997 2000). Caroline

    started her career working in Marketing with Procter and Gamble for 7 years. Caroline graduated stfrom the 1 French Business School, HEC Paris.

Caroline is President and CEO of Club Med Asia Pacific. She reports to Henri Giscard d‟Estaing,

    Chairman of the Board and CEO.
