    will give you some further information.

Phoenix Primary Care is a GP led organisation. Under the equitable

    access procurement Phoenix has been awarded five new contracts.

Walsall;

GP Led Walk in Centre and Practice vacancy for 4 GPs

Willenhall GP Practice- vacancy for 2 GPs

    Blakenhall GP Practice- vacancy for 2 GPs

    Pleck Road GP Practice vacancy for 2 GPs

Birmingham;

Hodge Hill GP Practice- vacancy for 2 GPs

In addition we have vacancies in three other APMS practices we

    operate in Walsall.

These are new practices with a starting list size of zero.

    The practices will be open 60 hours a week with 2 extended evenings

    and Saturday mornings and are expected to grow their list size by a

    100 registrations a month

The walk in centre will be open 12 hours a day, seven days a week.

    The walk in centre will see any patient for any medical condition within

    Walsall and these patients may choose to register with the practice.

You will work as part of a dedicated and skilled team delivering the full

    range of essential, additional and enhanced services, meeting all

    contractual obligations and fulfilling Phoenix vision of high quality

    responsive care.

    Our service will have an emphasis on tackling inequalities, health promotion and disease prevention. There will be optimised individual case management and integrated care pathways. Skill mix will be utilized with a strong and effective nursing team. The clinical staff will be supported by efficient reception, administration and management. All practices will become training sites within 18 months.

    This is an exciting opportunity for committed and caring doctors who not only will have skills, expertise and knowledge but also the correct behaviours and attitudes.

    We are looking for individuals, who are committed to the highest quality clinical care, who will work within Phoenix procedures & protocols and be effective team players. You will be expected to have MRCGP and additional qualifications may be an advantage. A

    commitment to teaching and training, any specialist knowledge that can be utilised as a GPwSI may confer advantage. We are also

    looking for individuals you can take on additional responsibilities and function as local lead clinicians. We welcome both experienced and recently graduated applicants and applications from individuals not able to work full time but who are looking for flexible sessional work.

    Phoenix is an APMS contractor but offer terms and conditions similar to the model contract recommended by the BMA.

Salary

Package of ? 66,606 to ? 97,650

This will be negotiable depending upon skills and experience

    ? The basic salary is ?52,462 to ?79,167 per annum

    ? There will be recommended DDRB annual pay uplift

    ? Employer contribution of 14% of basic salary into NHS Pension

    Scheme-Phoenix is recognised as a NHS employer for NHS

    pensions. You will be regarded as Officers of the NHS pension

    scheme.

    ? Performance Bonus annual one off bonus of ?1,800 to ?2,400

    depending upon achieving QOF targets and meeting Key

    Performance Indicators of contract

    ? Medical defence contribution of ?5000 per annum

    ? Additional remuneration to take on lead clinical responsibilities

    ? Additional remuneration if GPwSI activities generate practice

    income

Job Schedules & Job Plan

A full time salaried GP will work 10 Programmed Activities/Sessions a

    week

    Each PA/Session will be of 4 hours duration

    80% of contracted hours will be devoted to Direct Patient Activity

    (DPA)

    20% of contracted hours will be devoted to Supporting Patient Activity

    (SPA)

    DPA activity will be spent on surgery contact, on call within practice

    opening times, home visits, outreach clinics, telephone consultations,

    message book and any other direct patient contact.

    All patient appointments will be at an average of 10 minutes with the

    expectation that not less than 15 patients are seen in each DPA

    SPA activity will include referrals, investigations, correspondence,

    benefit agency and insurance forms, administration and management.

    Part of SPA time can also be taken for CPD, PDP, appraisal and

    medical education.

    The balance of DPA/SPA may be subject to change depending on

    service needs

You and Phoenix directors will agree a prospective Job Plan

This will contain ten programmed activities for a full time GP and sets

    out your main duties, responsibilities and schedules. This will be

    reviewed 6 monthly and you will be able to propose any adjustments

Phoenix offers flexibility of working arrangements and has family

    friendly policies.

Any extra programmed activities over and above 10 sessions a week

    and subject to the maximum permitted under the Working Time

    Regulations will attract additional remuneration

Leave

Full time salaried GP will receive 30 days leave per annum

    Public holidays will be based on 8 days as recognised nationally

    Note the Walk in Centre is open 365 days per year

    The leave year will run from 1

    st April each year

    Part-time GPs will receive leave on a pro rata basis

    You will be expected to cover colleague’s absences

    Location

    We will agree a principal place of work where you will undertake your programmed activities. However you may be required to work across any of Phoenix sites.

Teaching & Training

All sites are expected to be training by 18 months

    We plan to train doctors on VTS, ST1 to ST3, Medical students and Nurses.

    Salaried GPs will be encouraged to undertake training to enable them to become clinical and educational supervisors

    A GP undertaking personal responsibility as a supervisor will be eligible for a training grant

Learning Environment

    Phoenix will promote opportunities for continuous professional development

    A proportion of SPA time will be devoted to CPD

    Each practice will have frequent clinical meetings

    Educational events for all Phoenix clinical staff will be held regularly

Mentoring and coaching will be offered

    Requests for study leave will be considered on an individual basis

    Various educational resources and libraries are available

    Regular appraisals will provide a formative experience

Fee paying Services & External work

You must not carry out any private professional services during your

    contracted hours.

Any fees received during programmed activities must be remitted to

    Phoenix and the principle of no double payments will be upheld.

Any external services you undertake must be informed in writing to

    the medical director of Phoenix and you must comply with the

    European Working Time Directive.

Policies and procedures

You will be required to comply with all Phoenix procedures and

    policies that are in force.

You will have access to these at all times and will need to make

    yourself familiar with them.

Registration

It is an absolute condition of your employment that you are and

    remain a fully registered medical practitioner and are included on the

    specialist register held by the GMC, and continue to hold a licence to

    practice.

Professional Indemnity

It is also an absolute condition of your employment that you maintain

    appropriate professional medical indemnity at all times.

Pre-employment checks

All appointments will be subject to satisfactory CRB checks,

    references and medical checks.

Termination

This shall be 3 months by either party except where Phoenix

    terminates your employment for serious misconduct.

    Mutual Obligations

You and Phoenix will work in a spirit of mutual trust and confidence.

    We recognise that you will usually work unsupervised and take on

    responsibility for important judgements and decisions. We have to

    work together with mutual goodwill to ensure we deliver the highest

    quality care for the patients we serve.
