    basedmoleculartechniquewasappliedtoanalyzethemicrobialcon3111unityofautotrophic denitrificationbacteriainabiofilmdevelopedonthesurfaceofsulfurparticlesandthenthebiochemistryprocess

    involvedinthisbiofilmwasdiscussedbasedOnthemicrobialcommunityanalysis.SixkeyoperationaItaxonomy

    unitswereidentified.whichwereal1unknownspeciesbelongingtoawiderangeofbacteriafronlfourmajor

    subdivisions(alpha,beta,garmnaanddelta)ofthekingdomProteobacteriaandfromthekingdomChlorobiafgreen

    sulfurbacteria).OnespecieswaschemoautotrophicandrelatedtoThiobacillusdenitrificans,twospecieswere

    photoautotrophic,andthreewerechemoheterotrophic.Contrarytoexpectation, Tdenitrificanslikebacteriaconsti

    tutedonly32%ofthemicrobialcommunity.Asaresultofthestudy.theentiremicrobiologyoftheautosulfurotrophic

    denitrificationprocessaswellastheinteractionsbetweenthedifferentmicrobialgroupsinthebiofilmmayneedto

    berecOnsidered.
