New York, NY - Western beauty seekers will have reason to celebrate this year. Sephora,

    the beauty authority, is opening a new distribution center in Salt Lake City, Utah

    Developed to better accommodate consumer demand, enhance customer service and meet logistical needs, the newest distribution center will help ensure that Sephora’s retail

    stores and e-commerce clients continue to experience the excellent service to which

    they have become accustomed.

    for our outstanding service," says Martin Flaherty, Vice President, Sephora Logistics. "As our business continues to grow, our logistics’ infrastructure and supply chain capacities

    are expanding to guarantee our retail stores and e-commerce clients continue to enjoy top-not service and, state-of-the-art efficiency. I also want to express my appreciation and gratitude to the many people in Salt Lake City, especially the EDCUtah organization, for helping facilitate our move to Utah. Sephora explored fourteen other geographical locations before deciding to locate in Utah and, we are quite please at being part of this vibrant and wonderful city”.

    Previously served through the Maryland distribution center, clients west of the Mississippi will now experience more rapid service, as well as more efficient and cost-effective

    transportation thanks to the new 320,000 square foot warehouse in Salt Lake City, Utah.

    As well, Sephora's new facility will provide a disaster recovery option to ensure that

    supply is seamless during critical times.

    Sephora clients are not the only ones to benefit from the new distribution center. The facility will also provide job opportunities for more than 500 associates at full capacity,

    almost all of which will be from the surrounding local communities.

    “In looking at North American expansion, Sephora executives could have chosen to locate this facility anywhere in the Western United States, but chose to make this significant investment in Utah,” said Jeff Edwards, president and CEO of EDCUtah. “This is a great win for our state and is further proof of Utah’s growing reputation as a great place to do business.”

    This project was initiated with EDCUtah in January 2008. EDCUtah, led by Samantha Julian, participated in the site selection process and served as a liaison with appropriate leadership in the public and private sectors. William Frain, SIOR with The Staubach Company and Ed Johnson CCIM SIOR from NAI Utah Commercial Real Estate, Inc. assisted Sephora USA, LLC in leasing their new Western Distribution Center from Buzz Oates Companies, Inc., represented by Steve Condie CCIM SIOR and Mike Falk CCIM SIOR with NAI Utah Commercial Real Estate, Inc. The design of the distribution center will be handled by St. Onge Company, an independent consulting engineering company with more than 25 years experience in warehouse design and logistics.
