identifying suitable professional development courses and providers. Such courses may

be offered by professional trainers, consultants, AACE Sections, professional associations,

or others that can supply quality educational opportunities intended for public use or client-

    specific in-house courses.

AACE International's high standards for granting AEP status and its ongoing review of Providers activities, ensures quality AEP programming, which results in satisfied participants.

AACE’s AEP Program offers:

; Your company will be listed as an Approved Education Provider on the AACE International Education web

    page (www.aacei.org).

Application Process

Approved Education Provider status is acquired by going through a formal approval registration process that includes submitting a description of the organization, topic areas that are covered by the organization’s expertise, and industries in which these areas are applicable. Providers maintain AACE International AEP status by adhering

    to the following requirements:

    1. Submit to AACE International a completed course description form for each course to be promoted that is considered applicable to cost management professionals.

     Page 2

    2. Give AACE International a detailed outline and description of proposed courses’ content, target audience and industry, if a specific course is industry-specific.

3. Assign a unique course number to each course that is offered. This course number must begin with the AEP

Provider number that is assigned by AACE International.

    4. Present each attendee with a certificate of completion or a letter supporting the attendee’s participation. The certificate or letter must include the course title, course number, date of completion, and number of professional development hours awarded.

5. Pay an annual registration fee (see calculation as noted under AEP Benefits, item 3 above).

AEP Guidelines

AEP Providers must adhere to the following criteria, in order to become registered and maintain their AEP status:

    1. Content of each course must be relevant to the fields of cost and/or management and address one or more of the skills included therein.

    2. Learning objectives and method of instruction should be clearly stated to prospective participants.

3. Attendance records for each course must be maintained for at least one year.

    4. Substantive participant comments included in post-course evaluations will be considered and used to make necessary improvements to the course.

    5. Provider will use qualified instructors who are experts in the topics they are presenting.

6. Provider will adhere to the AACE International Canon of Ethics in the conduct of courses.

7. Marketing that represents the Provider as an AEP shall be restricted to those courses approved by AACE

International. AACE International reserves the right to perform a random audit of specific courses for quality control and compliance purposes, by requesting a copy of the course hand-out materials for review. These materials will be returned to the Provider after the audit is conducted.

    8. Provider shall only use the approved AEP logo, and its associated approved statement, in conjunction with those courses which have been registered with AACE International.

Questions regarding the AEP Program may be directed to the Staff Director, Education and Administration.

    Course Description Form

Instructions:

Enter the name of the Provider as it is listed on the original AEP registration form. Provide an appropriate

Contact Name and Contact Information in case questions arise. This individual should be the same person as that indicated on the original AEP registration form.

Each approved course will be tracked according to the Course Number that has been assigned to it. The first four digits of the Course Number are the Provider Number that has been assigned to the AEP upon

acceptance into the AEP Program. The remaining digits are those assigned by the Provider to create a unique alpha-numeric designator for each course. If your Provider Number has not yet been assigned, leave the

first four digits blank and complete only the remainder of the identification number for the course.

Enter the title of the course. In addition, indicate the number of Professional Development Hours (PDHs) which will be awarded to participants upon completion of the course. The PDH is the measuring unit used to quantify approved learning activities. One PDH is earned for every hour spent in a planned, structured learning experience or activity. Fractions of PDHs may be awarded in 0.25 increments following one full hour of activity. Providers should, therefore, establish the PDH value of an activity by using the number of estimated contact hours required to achieve the learning objectives of the activity.

List the duration of the course. For example, a four-hour workshop, a two-day seminar, etc. Note that the PDHs attached to the course should equal the number of hours listed in the “duration of the course.” Generally, a one-day course of eight hours has a one-hour lunch break, so the total number of PDHs assigned would be seven.

A course may be a seminar, or educational product and may be offered at multiple times and locations. A change in the duration, PDH credit or content of the course constitutes a new course that must be listed separately.

The learning objectives must clearly state what new knowledge or skills the student is expected to gain upon completion of the course. When describing the learning objectives, use specific actions expected, rather than vague statements.
