Data Model

Symbols

    A B

Each A may be related to one or more Bs; Each B must be related to one and only one A

     A B

    Each A may be related to one or more Bs; Each B may be related to one and only one A Note: Many XOR relationships are also redundant. They exist to show that sometimes some inherited attributes are optional, e.g. The KO Brand relationship will inherit the industry sector anyway. However under these circumstances industry sector will be mandatory. The XOR relationship to Industry Sector supports those instances where a KO does not relate to a specific brand but does relate to an industry sector. Ditto for News and KO Process Step relationships. Should also appear for Person Portfolio Industry sector.

Entity Descriptions

Attribute = attribute name; mandatory relationships are resolved into inherited

    attributes indicated in italics, e.g. _office_name means the ‘name’ attribute of the office entity has been inherited into this entity. Key = yes if the attribute forms part of the primary key Mandatory = yes if attribute is mandatory

    Type = data type

    Default = default value

    Rule = validation rule (in addition to data type & referential integrity checks)

    Possible Values: For many look-ups I have included a list of possible values. Where these lists are not intended to be exhaustive, I have indicated this with an asterix (*) at the top of the list. If no asterix appears then this is the complete list of possible values
