     INTRODUCTION

1. This Workbook is a valuable document as it provides a permanent record of a Cadet‟s

    training history and achievements as a senior cadet. The Workbook is designed to ensure a uniform

    standard of training is implemented nationally throughout the AAFC, whilst providing the Cadet with

    a comprehensive record of his or her training and achievements.

2. The integrity of the training and assessment related to the completion of the relevant training

    is reflected by the accurate completion of the Evidence Logs. The document reflects the shared

    responsibility for training that occurs between the Trainee (Cadet) and the Qualified

    Trainer/Assessor.

3. The length of time taken to complete the Evidence Log is dependent on the cadet‟s

    successful completion of Cadet Warrant Officer (CWOFF) and/or Cadet Under Officer (CUO)

    Course.

ELIGIBILITY

4. This book is initially provided to cadets undertaking Senior Non-Commissioned Officer

    (SNCO) promotion course training.

ASSESSMENT

5. In this competency-based training system, a learners results are not compared with the

    results of other learners. It is the process of collecting evidence and making a judgement on

    whether competency has been achieved.

6. Methods of assessment may include, but is not limited to any of the following:

    ? Written questioning short answer, essay, matching, identification, examinations, etc;

    ? Work and skill samples, structured problems and tasks checklists, research tasks,

    assignments;

    ? Examination of evidence portfolio (portfolio is any evidence collected by the trainee in

    support of the attainment of a performance criteria, competency etc);

    ? Practical examination; or

    ? Ongoing assessment (evidence that is collected through group work, role-play, simulations

    and scenarios).

OUTLINE

7. The performance criteria is embedded in the learning outcomes of the SNCO, CWOFF and

    CUO courses. Mapping of the SNCO, CWOFF and CUO courses has ensured that all competencies

    have been displayed. By successfully completing these courses and being “Recommended for Promotion”, cadets will have displayed the required competencies.

8. A cadet who has been recommended for promotion subject to reassessment will be eligible

    once the subsequent reassessment has been successfully completed.

9. All copies of “education” certificates used must by certified “Original sighted and verified” and

    signed and dated by an Instructor of or above the rank of Sergeant (AAFC) or a AAFC Officer.
