     I received Jesus Christ as my Savior during the summer of 1975 and was baptized a

    year later. Throughout my high school and college years, I served the Lord in a

    variety of capacities, both inside and outside of my home church. Six months after I

    completed college, I began to feel called by the Lord to preach the gospel. God has

    affirmed His calling on my life and has gifted me to preach, to teach, to win souls, and to minister to God’s people. I love to serve the Lord Jesus Christ, sharing His desire to see lost people saved and Christians brought to a growing relationship with Him. At each church I have served, I have emphasized expository preaching and personal evangelism. All of the churches experienced growth in attendance, baptisms, and giving.

     After spending a number of years training future pastors and missionaries at

    Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, God has led me back to a full-time preaching ministry at Hickory Grove Baptist Church. The greatest desire of my heart is to fulfill God’s purpose for my life by living to glorify Him (1 Corinthians 6:19-20;

    My wife, Michele, trusted Christ for salvation during a Vacation Bible School at our home church in Greensboro, North Carolina. Michele and I grew up together and were high school sweethearts. Following graduation from college, Michele began her career as a teacher in Christian and public schools. When Michele and I moved to Louisiana to pursue my doctorate, she also enrolled at New Orleans Seminary, receiving the Master of Arts in Christian Education with an emphasis in early childhood education. Since our son, Joshua, was born, Michele has devoted herself full-time to his nurture and development, and to supporting me in my preaching and teaching ministry. Other than salvation, God’s greatest blessings to me are my wife and son.

    Doctrinal Statement

    My ministry is based on a strong commitment to the inerrancy, authority, and sufficiency of Scripture. Believing that “all Scripture is given by inspiration of God” and that it is therefore “profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16), I seek to conduct my ministry and live my life in accordance with the Word of God. I fully endorse the Baptist

    Faith and Message 2000 as a summary of the doctrines to which I subscribe.
