NEW LE MERIDIEN HOTEL IN ALGERIA
Debuting in Algeria, Le Méridien will open its first hotel in the city of Oran with
Le Méridien Oran Hotel opening in 2010 and will offer guests an interactive and cultural
experience in one of Africa’s most dynamic cities.
(Date & Place of Distribution) – Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. announced today the signing of a management agreement with Sonatrach Spa, to operate a new hotel in Oran, Le Meridien Oran Hotel. The
signing of this agreement with Sonatrach Spa marks the entry of Le Meridien brand in Algeria, with an opening
scheduled for February 2010.

Situated in the city of Oran, on the Mediterranean coast in northwestern Algeria, the Le Méridien Oran will be
situated on a high cliff with a stunning view over the Mediterranean Sea and the city center of Oran. The hotel
will form part of a larger complex being constructed by Sonatrach Spa, which includes an adjacent conference-
and exhibition center, an esplanade and an oceanfront promenade. Hotel guests will enjoy a dramatic outdoor
pool area overlooking the Mediterranean Sea and a significant health club on the second floor with endless sea-
views. Part of the conference center is an impressive 3,000 seat auditorium with state-of the art technology
making it the most important conference facility of Algeria, and one of the few venues in Africa able to host large
scale conferences. The 296-room hotel will integrate all of the latest Le Meridien’s brand features, with a
special focus on mixing contemporary culture with European heritage, enabling customers to discover new
