Th ere a r e two fo rms o f Co -o pe ratio n to wh ich your attention will be direct ed in this lesson; namely:
First, th e Co-o pe ra tio n be tw een people who group themselves together or form alliances for the purpose of attai n ing a given end, under t h e princi ples known as t h e Law of the Master Mi nd.
Second, the C o - o per a tion between t he conscious and the subconscious minds, whi ch f o rms a reasonable hypothesis of man's ability to contact, communicate with and dr aw upon infinite intelligence.
To one who has not given serious thought to this subject, the foregoing hypothesis may seem
unreasonable; but follow the evidence of its

soundness, and study the facts upon which the
hypothesis is based, and then dr aw your ow n
conclus i ons .
Let us begi n with a brief r e view of the physical constr uction of the body:
"We know t h at the whol e body is tr avers e d by a net wor k of ner ves whi ch ser ve as the channel s of communication between the indwel ling s p iritual ego, whi c h we call mind, and t h e functi o ns of the ext e r nal or ganis m .
" This nervous system is dual. One s y stem, known
as the Sympathetic, is the channelfor all those
acti v iti es whi ch are not cons cious l y dir e cted by our volition, such as the operati on of the dige stive organs, the r e pair of the daily wear and tear of t h e tissues , and the like.
"The other system, known as t h e Vol untary or Ce re bro - sp inal sy stem, is t h e channel t h rough whi ch we r eceive consci ous perception f r om the phys i cal senses and exercis e contr o l over t h e movements of the body. This s y stem has its cent er in the br ain, whil e
the other has its cent er in t he ganglionic mass at the back of the st omach known as the solar plexus, and
someti mes s p oken of as t h e abdomi nal br ain. The
cerebro-spinal system is th e channel of our volitional or conscious ment al acti o n, and the s y mpathetic
system is the channel of that mental action which
unconsciously supports th e vital functi o ns of the

"But t he i n t e racti o n of cons cious and sub- cons cious mi nds requires a s i milar i n ter a cti on bet ween the corres p onding s y stems of nerves, and one

cons picuous connecti on by whi ch t h is is pr ovi ded is
the " v agus" nerve. This nerve passes out of the
cer ebr a l regi on as a portion of the volunt ar y s y s t em, and t h r o ugh it we control the vocal organs; then it
passes onward to the thorax , sendi ng out br anches t o the heart and lungs; and finally, passing through the
diaphragm, i t los e s the out er coati n g which
distinguishes the nerves of the vol unt ar y syst em and becomes ident i fied with t h ose of the sympat heti c system, so for m ing a connect i ng link between t he two
and making t h e man physical ly a si ngle enti ty.
"Similarly dif f er ent areas of the brain indicate
their connecti o n wit h t h e objective and subjective acti v iti es of t he mind res p ectively, and, s p eaking in a general way, we may assi gn the fr ontal portion of the br ain t o the f o rmer , and t h e poster ior por tion t o the latter , whil e t he i n t e rmedi a t e porti on part akes of the char act er of both.
"The intuitional faculty has its correspondence in the upper area of the brai n, situated between the
frontal and the pos t erior por tions , and,
physi o l ogi cally speaking, it is her e t hat int u itive ideas find entrance. Thes e, at first, are mor e or less
unfor m ed and gener a lized in character, but ar e,
nevertheless, perceived by the conscious mind;
other w ise, we shoul d not be awar e of them at all. Then the eff o rt of Nat u r e is to br ing t h ese ideas into mor e definit e and us abl e s h ape, s o the cons cious mi nd lays hol d on them and i n duces a corr es ponding vi br atory
current in the vol untary system of nerves, and this in turn i n duces a simil a r curr ent i n the i n vol unt ar y system, thus handi n g the i d ea over to the subj ective mind. T he vibr ator y curr ent whi ch had firs t des cended

from the apex of the brain t o the fr ontal brain and t h us through the voluntary system to th e so lar p l e xus is now r e versed and as cends from the s o lar pl exus
through the s y mpathetic system t o t he post erior br ain, this return current indicating the action of the
subject i ve mi nd."
If we wer e to remove the s u rf ace portion of the apex of the br ain we s h oul d find immediat ely below it the s h i n ing belt of br ain s u bstance call ed t he " c or pus call o us." This is t h e poi nt of union between the
subject i ve and obj ect ive , and, as t he curr ent r e t u r n s
from the sol a r plexus to this poi nt, i t is rest or ed t o the obj ective port i on of the brai n in a f r es h form wh ic h it
has acquir e d by t h e silent alchemy of t h e s ubj ective
mind. Thus the conception wh ich was at first only vaguely recognized is restor ed to the objective mind in a definit e and wor k ab le form, and then the
obj ective mi nd, acti n g throug h the frontal br ain - the area of comparison and anal ysis - pr oceeds to wor k
upon a clearl y per ceived i d ea and to bring out the
potentialities that ar e latent in it.*
The t e r m "subjecti v e mind" is the same as the term "s ub-cons c ious mind," and t h e ter m " o bjecti v e mind" i s the s a me as t h e ter m "conscious mi nd."

By studying this dual system thr o ugh which t h e
body transmits energy, we di scover the exact poi nt s at whi c h t h e two syst ems ar e connected, and t h e manner in which we may transmit a thought from th e
cons cious t o t h e s u bcons c ious mi nd.

When you i m pr ess any idea on your sub-conscious mind, through the principle of Auto-suggestion, you do s o with the aid of this dual nervous s y stem : and
when your s u b- cons cious mind works out a defi nite plan of any desire wit h which you impr es s it, the plan is deli v ered back t o your conscious mind through t h is same dual nervous system .

Knowi n g, fr om my own pr evi ous experience as a begi nner in t h e study of t h is subject, how difficult it is to accept the hypothesis here described, I will illustrate the soundness of th e hypothesis in a simple way that you can bot h under stand and demonstrat e f o r yours e l f .
Before going to sleep at night impress upon your mind t h e desire t o arise t h e next mor n i n g at a given hour , s a y at f o ur A.M., and if your i m pr essi on is accompani ed by a positive det er minati o n to arise at
that hour, your sub-consci ous mind will register the impr ess i on and awaken you at pr eci s e ly that time.
Now the questi on mi ght well be asked:
"If I ran impress my sub-conscious mind with the desire to arise at a specified time and it will awaken me at that ti me, why do I not for m the habit of impressing it with other and more important de sire s?"
If you will ask yourse lf this question, and insist
upon an answer, you will find yourself very near, if
