2010 Taipei International Art Competition

    Application Deadline: 04/15/10

    A. Mission: Whether you are freaky-creative-innovative or academic-realistic-conservative; we offer you an

    opportunity to express yourself!

    B. Organizer: X-Power Gallery run by Master Contemporary Art Ltd.

    C. Eligibility: Applicants shall be over 18 years old.

    D. Entry Rules

    1. First Round Submission

    (1) Download the Entry Form at X-Power Gallery official website

    http://www.xpgallery.com.tw/en/index_en.html.

    (2) Print out the color picture(s) of the work(s) (photo, 13×18 cm, ONLY black trim may be added if

    the image is less than 13×18 cm.) and write the name of the applicant as well as the title,

    dimension and medium of the work on the front bottom of the picture(s).

    (3) Save the TIF file(s) of the work(s) (CMYK, 300 dpi, 21×29cm) in a CD or DVD.

    (4) All items listed above (i.e. Entry From, color picture(s) and CD/DVD) shall be sent by Registered

    or Express Mail to X-Power Gallery at 1F, No.98, Sec.4, Xinyi Rd., Da-an District, Taipei City

    th10682, Taiwan by April 15, 2010 (Postmark Date).

    2. Delivery of Accepted Artworks

    th(1) Finalists will be revealed on May 15, 2010.

    (2) Accepted works will be posted on the X-Power Gallery official website.

    (3) The accepted work(s) shall be delivered for the final selection to X-Power Gallery in New York or

    ststTaipei during its business hours between 21 and 31 of May 2010.

    (4) All works must be wired properly for hanging; no saw tooth hangers are allowed.

    (5) The finalists are responsible for “Ship To, “Collect From,” Custom Duties and other related fees

    of delivery.

    E. Artwork Requirements

    1. Theme of Competition: open without any restriction.

    2. Medium: 2D works created by any medium excepted computer output, photography, film or ink and

    wash painting (shui-mo hua).

    3. Maximum size: 163×240cm (smaller size will be acceptable).

4. Maximum submission: UP to TWO (2) works.

    F. Entry Rules

    1. Do not submit more than TWO (2) works to the Competition.

    st2. Works shall be created after April 1, 2009.

    3. Applicants or Winners of the Awards will be disqualified under any of the following circumstances

    and shall compensate X-Power Gallery for all related costs and damages.

    (1) Any submitted work was plagiarized or copied from other peoples works.

    (2) Any submitted work was done by someone else and the applicant fails to prove the ownership of

    the copyright.

    (3) The applicant does not wish to exhibit the submitted work(s).

    (4) The applicant has submitted the same work to participate in other previous public competition or

    exhibition.

    (5) The same work is currently participating in other public competition.

    G. Selection Procedure

    1. The Organizer will invite experts in various art fields as committee members to review the submitted works.

    2. The committee will only review the TFT files or photos of the works in the First Round. As to the Final Selection, each committee member may require to review the TIF files, photos or original works at his or her own discretion.

    3. The committee will select one (1) X-Power Award of Excellent Achievement, one (1) Golden Award and five (5) Emerging Artist Special Awards in the Final Selection. If the committee decides that there is no work of sufficient merit for a specific Award, then the prize will not be awarded. 4. Final review will focus on innovative spirituality among Contemporary arts, uniqueness and creativeness presented, techniques or skills applied, social impacts to the society and etc. H. Awards

    1. X-Power Gallery of Excellent Achievement

    USD 5,000.00 purchase prize unless the work has been sold prior to the announcement of the Award. (So long as the work has not been sold, it will be collected by X-Power Gallery under a written purchase agreement signed after the announcement of the Award and certain tax withholding will apply in compliance with the related law of Taiwan. If the work is already sold, no purchase prize will be awarded.); Medal of Excellent; certificate; to be sponsored and represented by X-Power Gallery under a one-year contract.

    2. Golden Award

    USD 2,500.00 purchase prize unless the work has been sold prior to the announcement of the Award. (So long as the work has not been sold, it will be collected by X-Power Gallery under a written purchase agreement signed after the announcement of the Award and certain tax withholding will apply in compliance with the related law of Taiwan. If the work is already sold, no purchase prize will be awarded.), Gold Medal and certificate.

    3. Emerging Artist Special Award

    Maximum five artists will be selected; each winner will receive one medal and certificate. 4. All other finalists will receive Certificate of Participation for the record.

    I. Announcement of Award Winners / Exhibitions / Sale of Works / Unsold Works

    rd1. Reception for Announcement of Awards will be held on July 3, 2010.

    2. Exhibitions

    stth(1) Finalist Exhibition will be held in New York or Taipei between July 1 and August 5, 2010.

    (2) A solo exhibition for the winner of X-Power Award of Excellent Achievement will be held in New

    York or Taipei in 2010. The winner shall prepare two additional works to be exhibited separately

    by the Organizer in New York for ONE (1) month.

    (3) A solo exhibition for the winner of Golden Award will be held in New York or Taipei in 2010. (4) Winners of Emerging Artist Special Awards will have a group exhibition in New York or Taipei. (5) The Organizer will sign Exhibition Agreements with all finalists, award winners or their

    authorized agents regarding the details of the exhibitions stated above. The winners and finalists

    will be allowed to choose ONLY ONE (1) exhibition venue for each work.

    3. Sale of Artworks

    All works display in the above exhibitions are for sale and the sale price indicated in the Entry Form

    shall include FIFTY percent (50%) commission of Organizer. Consignment Agreements will be signed

    between the Organizer and the finalists, award winners or their authorized agents. 4. Unsold Artworks

    thAt the end of the Finalist Exhibition, all participants shall pick up their unsold works between 16 and

    th20 of August 2010 at their own expenses. Should any participant fail to collect his or her unsold

    thwork(s) by the due date (August 20, 2010), a late charge (USD$15.00 per day per work) will incur for

    thstorage. If the participant does not pick up the unsold work by September 5, 2010, the Organizer may

    dispose the uncollected works at its full discretion.

    J. Copyright Responsibilities

    1. For the publicity of the works and the promotion of the exhibitions, all accepted works may publicly

    displayed as well as reproduce and publish in related leaflets, brochures, art magazines, websites and

    other media selected by the Organizer.

    2. Applicants shall guarantee that the submitted works do not infringe any intellectual property rights of

    any third party and not violate any rules provided by the Organizer. Should any applicant use any

    work(s) created by a third party, the applicant shall have legally obtained the necessary license(s)

    thereof. Applicants shall be fully responsible for and indemnify the Organizer from and against any

    claims, damages, liabilities, costs and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees), arising out of or

    in any way connected with any claim that the works infringe any intellectual property rights or other

    rights of any third party.

    .K. Miscellany

    1. Upon signing the Entry Form of the Competition, the applicant agrees all rules provided by the Organizer with regard to the Competition.

    2. The Organizer reserves the right to amend the rules and to make additional announcements as needed.
