     Introductions

In daily life ,we have verbal-communication and non-verbal communication. Body language is an important part of non-verbal communication and it plays an crucial role in interpersonal communication. And different body languages express different meanings ,which is the result if many factors.

Americans show greetings by shaking hands, Arabians show greetings by kissing each others cheeks, Japanese show greetings by bowing ,and

Mexicans show greetings by hugging. In most Middle Eastern and Far Eastern countries, it is impolite to use your index finger to point out. In Thailand , when you signal someone to approach you , your palms should face down and your fingers should move towards yourself. But in the USA, when you ask others to come here, you must make your palm face up and fingers move towards yourself. In Vietnam ,the gesture of palm facing up can only e used to call up a dog. In America, your two legs crossing means you are relaxed. While you can never do that in North Korea. Japanese use both of their hands when they exchanging gifts, but you can never use your left hand when you exchange gifts with Muslims because they think the left hand is unclean.

Obviously , body language are so variant in different areas . It is imperative to know about the differences so that we can communicate with others smoothly.Otherwise ,we will get into trouble . For example ,in China, touching a child is an expression of love .So we can often hear a western mother complaining about that a Chinese mother touched her child. Although westerners know that Chinese dont have a spite, they still feel uncomfortable

because in their culture, touching a stranger is very rude. Consequently, having a knowledge of body language is very essential when we communicate with others. This essay will help we know more about body languages and some instructions on communicating with people under different cultural backgrounds.
