    LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY EXAM

Reason for exam:

     ____MA degree in Latin American, Caribbean & Iberian Studies [LACIS] (test all skills)

     ____LACIS Undergraduate Spanish testingonly for non-Spanish majors (test all skills)

     ____Fulbright applicant (test all skills) [send original; give Grad Coordinator a copy]

     ____FLAS Fellowship (test all skills)

     ____Tinker/Nave Fellowship (test all skills)

     ____Spanish reading/translation knowledge exam (History Dept., etc.) [Dictionary allowed]

     (1 hour exam; student translates from a book in his/her field. Test

     administrator chooses 2-3 pages [depending on length and difficulty of text per

     page] for 1-hour translation, evaluates the translation, and sends a letter with

     the results to the individual indicated below.)

     ____ Test administrator then sets up a preliminary appointment to choose pages

     from student’s book for translation. (Choose a range of pages for student to study.

     Make an appointment for student to take the 1-hour exam.)
