    MONTGOMERY FEDERATION OF YOUNG FARMERS’ CLUBS

     thMinutes of the Youth Forum meeting held on Thursday 11 September 2008, at

    7.30pm in Abermule Community Centre.

PRESENT: John Woosnam, Catherine Bennett, Rosie Davies, Sara Robinson, Janet Rowlands

    (Vice President) Andrew Davies, Luned Evans, Angharad Evans, Harry James, Steffan

    Lowther, Maldwyn Francis, Greg Griffiths, Emma Baker, Ed Griffiths, Sara Moyle, Nia

    Emberton, Rachel Trow, Laura Howells, Gemma Davies, Martyn Williams, Bryn Davies,

    Ruth Edwards, Geraint Jones, Chris Evans and Robin Morris Jones.

PART ATTENDANCE: Nicola Walker (County Chairman, Becky George (Retiring Committee Chairman)

    and Gwynfor Thomas (County President).

    In opening the meeting, Becky George welcomed everybody to the first meeting of

    the new YFC year and urged members to use the committee to air the views of the

    their Club.

    Representatives were reminded that if they were unable to attend meetings a

    replacement representative should be sought.

    Those present were informed of the role of the Youth Forum Committee and how it

    works in conjunction with the Wales Youth Forum committee at Wales YFC.

    The election of officials took place with the following elected to serve the committee

    for the year 2008 2009.

    Chairman Mr John Woosnam, Dolfor YFC

    Vice Chairman Miss Catherine Bennett, Vyrnwy Valley YFC

    Minute Secretary Miss Rosie Davies, Llidiartywaen YFC

    Youth Forum Leaders Mr Andrew Davies, Dolfor YFC, Mr Emyr Jones and Mr

    Gary Wright.

YF/01/08/09 APOLOGIES

    Apologies were received from David Gethin, Powell James, Naomi George, Rosie

    Powell, Bethan Lovgreen and Tomos Bailey.

YF/02/08/09 CONFIRM MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING thMinutes of the last meeting held on Thursday 29 May, 2008 were read and signed as

    a correct record.

YF/03/08/09 MATTERS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES

     YF/60/07/08 Sponsored Walk

    The committee asked for feedback but no comments were put forward.

    YF/61/07/08 Summer Events

    The committee were asked for their feedback from the Alton Towers trip but again

    no comments were put forward.

YF/04/08/09 CORRESPONDENCE

    Wales YFC

    A questionnaire from Wales YFC was discussed in relation to members views of the

    2008 Young Peoples Village at the Royal Welsh Show. Comments were put forward

    which would be relayed back to Wales YFC.

    Young People’s Questionnaire

    Members were asked to complete a Youth Service Satisfaction Survey in relation to

    the YFC in Montgomeryshire.

YF/05/08/09 FINANCIAL REPORT

    It was reported that to date the Youth Forum bank balance stood at ?1,879.41. It

    was noted that this was approx. ?600 more than at the same time last year.

    Members were reminded that the money is there for the sole purpose of the members

    of the Federation under the age of 18, and that the Youth Forum are in charge of

    their own finances.

    YF/06/08/09 2008 2009 PLANNING

    After discussion it was agreed to organise the following events for the Youth Forum.

    Paintballing / Go Karting

    It was agreed to organise a Youth Forum trip on the Sunday of the Autumn Half Term

    to the Rednall Paintballing and Karting Centre in Oswestry.

    It was agreed that the Forum should pay for buses for the day and members to pay

    for the activity costs.

     Future Events

     It was agreed to look into the following events for members under the age of 18.

    ? Ice Skating

    ? Cardiff Rugby Match

    ? Weekend away to Liverpool, Manchester or London.

    Information on each of these ideas would be brought back to the next meeting of the

    committee.

YF/07/08/09 PUBLIC SPEAKING

    The committee were asked for suggestions of books for the forthcoming Junior

    Reading competition.

     st1 Choice was agreed as Of Mice and Men.

    For the Welsh competition the following were suggested. st1 Choice was agreed as Jibar by Bedwyr Rees.

YF/08/08/09 WALES YFC YOUTH FORUM

    The committee were asked to elect four members to sit on the Wales YFC Youth

    Forum which meets in Builth Wells three times a year on a Saturday morning.

    The following members were elected.

YF/08/08/09 ANY OTHER BUSINESS

     Rally

    Gwynfor Thomas posed the question to the committee as to whether they thought an

    Under 16’s dance would be a suitable event at the Rally before the main barn dance

    started?

     Powys Youth Forum

    Luned Evans and Sara Moyle agreed to represent the YFC on the Powys Youth Forum

    which meets four times during the year at Staylittle.

    YFC Clothing

    Members were asked if they would like to order Youth Forum Hoodies. A number of

    orders were subsequently taken.

    YFC Magazine

    The committee were asked to elect two members onto the editorial of the new Three

    Federations Magazine project.

    Angharad Evans and Luned Evans were duly elected.

    As there was no other business the meeting was declared closed at 8.50pm.
