Under the leadership this past year of Mayor LaVern and City Council members Greg, Yvonne, Tom and Bob, the City

     of Au Gres has completed another successful year of infrastructure construction and beautification of our beautiful

    downtown.

    Our four full time employees; Don, Mary, LaVonne, Heath and myself take pride in the many accomplishments throughout this year and past years, especially with decreasing resources and increasing challenges. We remain

    committed to providing continued service and improvements for our city residents.

    Through the dedicated efforts of various City of Au Gres departments, the City of Au Gres remains a clean, safe,

    City logo items including t-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, and zippered jackets. We even have City logo gift

    bags to save you holiday wrapping. All proceeds from the sale of these items goes into beautification of

    our downtown. Makes great gifts for Christmas and birthdays to former grads, visitors, friends and

    relatives!

     PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY ELECTION

    Michigan will be holding a presidential primary election for the 2008 year. The election will be held on

    Tuesday, January 15, 2008. Polls will be open from 7:00 AM - 8:00 PM at your voting jurisdiction. For all

    Au Gres City registered voters, if needing an absentee ballot, please stop by Au Gres City Hall and pick one

    up or call our office at (989) 876-8811 and request an application be mailed to you. For this election you

    must declare a party preference or you will not be issued a ballot. Au Gres City Offices will not be open for business this day due to the election. We will be accepting water bill payments on Wednesday, January 16,

    2008 without penalty.

    REMINDER

    With winter season just around the corner, Au Gres City staff just wants to remind you the drive-through window located on City Hall‟s west side is operable. Please sound your horn and City staff will

    gladly take any water bill or tax payment.

    BIKE PATH IN AU GRES

    MDOT has agreed to be lead agency for grant application for a non-motorized bike path along Main Street

    to the mouth of the Au Gres River. MDOT anticipates the application would go into Lansing early next year and if awarded, construction could begin in 2010.

    This project has been designated on the City‟s capital improvements program for the past several years by

    City officials. The assistance of MDOT is very exciting news for our community leaders.

    This year‟s award recipients are Kurt Humerickhouse and

    KJ Edmonds. Kurt Humerickhouse has been Fire Chief

     for the Au Gres-Sims-Whitney Fire Department for the past 10 years. He also assists annually with help in AU GRES CHAMBER OF COMMERCE putting up City Christmas decorations on the pedestrian MIXED NUTS: The Au Gres Area Chamber bridge. of Commerce will once again be selling their

    NEW CITY STREET SIGNS If you haven‟t noticed driving through Au Gres, the City of Au Gres recently replaced all

    stolen City street signs. These signs are very costly and the City has noticed that in years

    past these signs either get stolen or vandalized. If anyone sees anything suspicious going on

    with the street signs, please report all activity to the Au Gres-Sims Police Department or

    Arenac County Sheriff Department at (989) 846-4561. We strive to make Au Gres a City

    where people are proud to live in and work!

    It is impossible for City crews to do a decent job of SNOW REMOVAL in the winter when

    cars are parked on streets overnight.

    Parking on city streets between the hours of 2:00 am and 6:00 am may be towed if deemed a

    safety hazard.

    Sidewalks , Hydrants, Water Meters Residents are urged to remove all snow and ice from sidewalks, mailboxes, hydrants and

    water meters near their home or business.
