    Welcome to Centre Dance! We look forward to a great year!

Withdrawing from the Studio

    ? We require notification in writing, prior to the seventh day of each month, if your child is

    withdrawing from any or all classes.

    ? If we do not receive this notification by the seventh, you will be

     responsible for paying that month’s tuition and any fees incurred.

Communication

     ? Please provide the studio office with an e-mail address that is

    frequently checked, as you will receive news this way. You will receive news via e-mail so

    please update us at centredance@aol.com if your e-mail changes.

    ? Although we now use blind copies for all group emails sent out from the Centre Dance e-

    mail account, it is strictly prohibited for anyone to use prior Centre Dance group e-mail

    lists to send out their own e-mail messages.

    ? Please check our website, www.centredance.org, as we frequently upload all current

    information and forms for easier accessibility.

     ? If you have a question or concern that you would like to address with the director or

     staff, please contact the studio office to arrange a convenient time to do so.

Attire

     ? As we have encountered numerous difficulties regarding this issue; please adhere to the

     guidelines listed here.

     ? The dress/hair code will be strictly enforced. Repeated violations will result in a phone

     call or e-mail.

    ?

     ? Ballet

    ALL Ballet students are required to own a properly fitting solid black leotard,

    as they may be necessary for the winter and/or spring performances.

    Leotards must fit properly so that a bra is not needed, however, if a bra is

    worn it may NOT be visible (this includes sports bras).

    Girls in Ballet 1 - 5, must wear pink tights (with feet, no shimmer) and any style

    (tank, long/short sleeved) solid black leotard, with pink split-sole ballet slippers

    with one elastic sewn on each slipper. Canvas ballet slippers may be worn for class

    but leather is mandatory for performances.

    Girls in Ballet 6 Senior Company, must wear pink, tan or black tights and any

    style (tank, long/short sleeved) and color leotard with pink split-sole ballet slippers

    with one elastic sewn on each slipper. Canvas ballet slippers may be worn for class

    but leather is mandatory for performances.

    HAIR MUST BE PULLED INTO A BUN FOR BALLET FOR ALL LEVELS.

    Boys wear white t-shirt with black tights or sweatpants with black ballet shoes

    with one elastic sewn on each shoe. Canvas ballet shoes may be worn for class but

    leather is mandatory for performances.

? Jazz

    Students in all Jazz classes may wear any color/style leotard or tighter fitting top

    (ex. Cami top or tight fitting t-shirt) with black jazz pants, capris, dance “booty”

    shorts or tights. All jazz students must own a pair of black no lace jazz shoes.

    Depending on the style of the recital piece, specific shoes may be required.

    Hair must be securely pulled away from face.

    NO SCHOOL CLOTHES FOR CLASS!

? Tap

    Students in Tap 1, may wear any color/style leotard with black jazz pants, capris or

    tights with black patent tie taps (ex. Leo’s tempo taps) .

    Students in Tap 2 andTap 3 may wear any color/style leotard or tighter fitting top

    with black jazz pants, capris or tights with black “mary jane” style tap shoes.

    Students in all other tap classes may wear any color/style leotard or tighter fitting

    top (ex. Cami top or tight fitting t-shirt) with black jazz pants, capris or tights

    with black split-sole lace up tap shoes.

    NO jingle taps.

    NO SCHOOL CLOTHES FOR CLASS!

? Hip Hop

    Students wear loose-fitting dance wear that he/she can dance in and clean, dry

    sneakers. No dance “booty” shorts. (Examples of appropriate attire include sweat

    pants, basketball shorts, cut-off sweat pants, t-shirts, hoodies.)

    Predominantly white sneakers will be required for performances.

    SNEAKERS MUST BE WORN FOR CLASS!

? Lyrical

    Students in all lyrical classes may wear any solid color leotard or tighter fitting top

    (ex. Cami top or tight fitting t-shirt) and any color stirrup or convertible tights,

    dance “booty” shorts or dance Capri pants with footundeez.

     NO LOOSE FITTING CLOTHING!

    The instructor will specify shoes for performances.

     NO SCHOOL CLOTHES FOR CLASS!

    Attendance

    ? If your child will be absent from dance class, please call the studio before the scheduled

    class time to notify the teacher.

    ? Although we strongly encourage students’ participation in the December and Spring

    performances, they are optional. If your student will not be participating in either of

    these performances, please notify the teacher and studio as soon as possible.

    ? Repeated absences make it difficult for the class to progress efficiently especially prior

    to performances. It is therefore the responsibility of the dancer to learn the missed

    material before returning to the next class. Chronic absenteeism may be addressed by

    director.

    Classroom Expectations

    ? Maintaining a respectful attitude towards your teachers and classmates will be expected.

    ? Cell phones, food, and drinks are not permitted in the studios.

    Costumes

    ? Costume measurements for ALL students will be taken during the first week of October at

    the studio.

    ? A NON-REFUNDABLE costume deposit of $25.00 for each class your child is enrolled in

    will be collected (check your coupon booklet for the correct coupon). A $5.00 late fee per

    class will be assessed to any deposit not paid by the deadline, which is October 5, 2009.

    ? Final Costume Balances (minus deposits) will be posted on the front door of the Studio and

    emailed to the email that you provided to us at registration. ? Costume Balances are due at the Studio by January 4, 2010 (please check your coupon

    booklet for the correct coupon). A $5.00 late fee per class will be assessed to any balance

    not paid by the deadline.

    ? Your deposit of $25.00 per costume is non-refundable.

    If you quit a class after your costume has been paid in full and ordered you will receive no

    refunds. We will call you when your costume comes in and you are welcome to pick it up. ? Costumes worn for our winter performance that are on loan from the studio must be

    returned after Sunday’s performance.

    Show Tickets

    ? All seats for all shows are reserved seating.

    ? In order to purchase Winter Show tickets all balances including tuition, costumes deposits,

    late fees, and any other charges must be paid in full.

    ? In order to purchase Spring Recital tickets all balances including tuition, costumes

    balances, late fees, and any other charges must be paid in full.

    Facility Usage Rules

    ? Please be respectful of the entire facility. We have encountered numerous difficulties

    regarding this issue. Please don’t hang on the doors or bathroom stalls or climb on the

    tables and chairs. Destruction of property will not be tolerated. ? All items left in the lost and found will be collected and taken for charitable donation on

    the last day of each month. PLEASE check the lost and found frequently, as we are not

    responsible for personal items left at the studio.

    ? The tables and chairs in the lobby area are for DANCE STUDENT USE ONLY. The tables

    are designed with the student in mind as an area for eating and doing homework. ? Parents and other visitors are asked to please limit their time spent in the lobby area, as

    this area frequently becomes overcrowded and noisy.

    ? PLEASE utilize the trash receptacles located throughout the building.

    ? Students are welcome to use the refrigerator and microwave; however, we ask that you

    please clean out the microwave after using it, and remove all of your food/drinks from the

    refrigerator before going home. The refrigerator will be cleaned out at the end of every

    night so please do not leave anything in there that you might want for future use.

    ? Please do not park directly in front of the studio entrance. If your dancer is not ready

    when you arrive to pick her up please park in a space in the parking lot.

    Payments

    ? You have been provided with a payment coupon book, which should be used for your

    monthly payments. There are nine monthly coupons, a costume deposit coupon, and a

    remaining costume balance coupon included in the booklet.

    ? When submitting a payment, complete and tear out the appropriate coupon and include it

    with your payment in an envelope and put it in the payment slot in the lobby. NO CASH

    ? Please itemize what the payment is for on the coupon.

    ? Payments are due by the seventh day of each month.

    ? A reminder of those balances that are unpaid by the seventh will be posted at the studio

    on the eighth and will be updated daily.

    ? If you pay your full year tuition at registration you will receive an additional 10%

    discount.

    However, if you quit any classes or quit entirely you will receive a refund minus a

    cancellation fee of $50.00 per class that you quit.

    ? Prolonged Injury Discount:

    If you quit a class with a Doctor’s excuse you will receive a prorated refund based on the

    number of classes you have taken that month.

    If you are observing your class for a month or longer with a Doctor’s excuse you will

    receive a 50% discount for that month’s tuition.

    ? Long Term Class Conflicts:

    If you are going to miss any of your classes for at least a month due to practice schedules

    for other activities you need to notify Centre Dance in advance.

    If you are going to miss all of your classes for at least a month due to practice schedules

    for other activities we will prorate your tuition rate based on attendance and holding your

    spot. We will notify you of your tuition rate for that month.
