Dear Family and Friends of Gowana,
Welcome to Gowana sixth grade parents and welcome back seventh and eighth grade parents!
The PTA board was busy over the summer preparing events for this school year. September and October are high activity months for us. Here are some of the events for September: th ? Hospitality committee hosted a breakfast to welcome staff on September 16. thth ? Fundraiser committee has started our annual magazine drive that runs from September 18 to 30. rd ? Gowana School Pictures committee helped with fall pictures on September 23. thth ? Our first PTA meeting was September 9….. PTA meeting is November 19 th ? Our Activities committee hosted our Gowana Only 6 grade dance.
? Our first quarter Gowana PTA newletter is being distributed to you.
Look for our upcoming events including the Fall Scholastic Book Fair, Reflections Program and the Fall Spirit Apparel Sale.
The PTA executive board welcomes you to join the Gowana PTA and to volunteer on various committees. Please complete the PTA membership form and the Call For Help Volunteer Form and send it in to the Gowana main office. We rely on our Gowana families for volunteers to make the PTA a great organization.
Our PTA meetings are held bi-monthly in the Humanities Library on Wednesday eveningsat at 7:00 pm. Our th thmeetings usually last one hour. This year’s PTA meetings will be held on September 9, November 19, January ththth 7 , March 18 , and May 20 . We hope to see you at this year’s meetings.
The success of PTA depends on the involvement of parents, teachers, staff , and students. We are looking

Welcome back to a new year of school and many new and exciting experiences for your child! Arts-in-Ed has
been very busy getting programs in place for all three grade levels. Many of the programs are tri-building programs so that the children enjoy common experiences in cultural arts. Below are a few of the upcoming programs that your child will be a part of. If you would like to volunteer for any of these programs please feel free
to give us a call or send an email. The time commitment is only about an hour and you get to see the program
and your child gets to see you involved in their school.
ththOctober 7 – (7 grade)Substance abuse program featuring Mr. Rick Stoddard. Mr. Stoddard is a well received speaker and will hopefully make an impact on your child and educate them on the dangers of substance abuse.
thOctober 15 and 16 – (7 grade)Revolutionary War Encampment. This program features Scott Padeni who reenacts with historical detail an encampment during the revolutionary war. This is a favorite of the students and Mr. Padeni actually spends the night outdoors and invites families to come back at night and speak with him or just
come check it out!
November 19 and 20 – (all grades)PUSH - PUSH is a physical theatre presentation that promotes character education for all grades. The character education program is always a high energy program that encourages
students to set high standards and develop their character as a person.
