IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PARENTS Attention parents of kindergarten students and of students new to
Chicago Public Schools in any grade. Illinois law requires that all
students present evidence of a physical exam and immunizations in
accordance with the Illinois Department of Public Health schedule in order to attend school. Students may not attend school after
October 28th if these requirements are not met. Parents of students whose records are incomplete have been notified in
writing twice. Unless the required documentation is provided to
the school nurse, those students will be excluded from school after
October 28th until their health records are complete. Kindly
deliver requested records to Cathy Domres, RN as soon as possible
in the main office. Thank you for your attention to this important matter!
Local author Marlene Byrne visited our school. She spoke to strdchildren in grades 1 through 3 about the importance of physical
activity. An Edgebrook resident, Marlene has written four books
for children. Her books are part of the “Project Play” series.
Watching her children grow up, she decided to write this series of books based on her own experiences growing up in a small Wisconsin
town. “I wanted to publish something that inspired families to
value this creativity and feel good, not guilty, about their kids just
playing in the backyards,” Marlene said. Our students are very
lucky to have Mrs. Byrne in our own backyard to share her
experiences with them. Thank you Mrs. Wright and Barnes and
Noble for bringing Mrs. Marlene Byrne to our school.

CHICAGO PUBLIC SCHOOLS INFORMATION IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Please take a moment to visit the main website to view and
download information regarding preparation for the cold and flu season.
H1N1 FLU UPDATE
As the flu season begins; we will be giving class notification for students and staff who report H1N1 symptoms. Please be aware
that many doctors are not testing to confirm influenza or H1N1.
Please remember to keep your children home if they feel sick,
especially if they are exhibiting flu-like symptoms. Children should
remain home at least 24 hours without fever (without the use of
fever-reducing medicines). When reporting an absence please be
specific about the nature of your child's illness. With your help, we
will reduce the spread of colds and flu and provide a healthy
environment for learning.
For additional information about cold/flu and H1N1 symptoms and preparations please see our main website.
We have been informed by the Illinois State Board of Education
that they will not be paying any Parent/Guardian Transportation
claims filed for the 2008-09 school year due to lack of funding at
the state level.
