Welcome to the Canadian Institute of Management professional programs offered to

    professional managers looking for accredited designations.

The Student Handbook is intended to provide you with the basic information about the

    professional program, procedures and regulations you may need to refer to.

    Level 1: Certificate in Management

    Entry Requirement: Diploma holders or High school graduates or higher level with

    at least two years of full time practical experience in management

To qualify for the award of Certificate in Management,, students must successfully

    complete the following 4 courses:

Level 2: Diploma in Management

    Entry Requirement: Have a recognized diploma in Business or equivalent, or have successfully completed Level 1: Certificate in Management

    To qualify for the award of Diploma in Management, students must successfully complete the following 4 courses:

     CIM05 Management Accounting

     CIM06 Marketing Management

     CIM07 Financial Management

     CIM08 Strategic Management

Level 3: Postgraduate Diploma in Management

    Entry Requirement: Have completed Level 1 and Level 2, or have a recognized degree in management with over 5 years of related experience.

    To qualify for the award of Postgraduate Diploma in Management, students must successfully complete the following module of 4 courses:

     CIM09 Project Management

     CIM10 Operations Management

     CIM11 Supply Chain Management

     CIM12 Quality Management

    Certified in Management(C.I.M.) Program

Upon successfully completed both level 1 and level 2, or the equivalent standing,

    candidates are eligible to apply for C.I.M. professional designation from Canadian Institute of Management.

    Chartered Manager (F.CIM) Program To qualify for the Chartered Manager Professional designation, students must

    have completed the C.I.M. Program(8 courses required)or the equivalent, and

    complete 12 additional CPD courses. Exemptions will be given for recognized

    credit courses.

For candidates with MBA/MPA/DBA degrees in Business or equivalent, they will

    only need to take 4 additional CPD courses(Level 3 Postgraduate Diploma in

    Management).

    Professional Manager (P.Mgr) Program To qualify for the Professional Manager, candidates must have completed

    additional CPD courses (Level 3 Postgraduate Diploma in Management).

     There are 3 levels of studies. Completion of each level will lead to the following

     Awards issued jointly by CIM and collaborating educational institution.

     Level 1: Certificate in Management

     Level 2: Diploma in Management

     Level 3: Postgraduate Diploma in Management

    (1) Candidates who have completed both Level 1 and Level 2 will be eligible to

    Apply for Certified in Management(C.I.M.) professional designation.

    (2) Candidates who have MBA/MPA/DBA degrees, upon completing Level 3, will

    be eligible for applying F.CIM (Chartered Manager) professional

    designation.

    The Canadian Institute of Management is Canada's senior management association. As a non-profit organization the Institute was established in 1942(60 years Diamond Anniversary in 2002) and is dedicated to the enhancement of managerial skills and professional development. Currently there are 20 CIM branches coast-to-coast with the National Office in Toronto. The Greater China Branch in Hong Kong will be the first CIM branch being set up outside of Canada.

    Since its inception the Institute has helped over 45,000 managers to develop a broadly-based education in management skills with a rich and diversified offering of programs from individual courses to professional designation.

    The Institute's programs are available through many educational institutions in cities across Canada. The programs are also available in a variety of forms and structures:

Nationally accredited study programs offered through universities and colleges

    International recognition of individual achievement

    Contact with practising management professionals

    Local branch activities and services including workshops and seminars

Levels of Membership

    Just like an effective manager, CIM offers flexibility within its membership structure by providing many options:

    ACCREDITED MEMBER - Accredited members are those who, having met the Institute's requirements are entitled to use the professional designations, C.I.M, P.Mgr. or F.CIM.

GENERAL MEMBER - General members are:

    a) Individuals who do not qualify under other classifications but, by virtue of their background, education and/or experience wish to hold membership for purposes of their own general interest b) Graduates of the Institute's 2-year "Certificate in Supervisory Management" course requirements c) Those who have generally met the admission criteria for the Education programs(s) and are currently enrolled in those programs

    CORPORATE MEMBER - This category will include persons within organizations and groups that have paid the required membership fees.(See Corporate Programs section)
