Hymn: Follow Me

Follow me, follow me, leave your

    home and family,

leave your fishing nets and boats

    upon the shore.

Leave the seed that you have sown,

    Leave the crops that you’ve

    have grown,

    leave the people you have

    known and follow me.

    Foxes have their holes

    and the swallows have

    their nests,

but the Son of Man has no place to lay down.

    I do not offer comfort,

    I do not offer wealth,

But in me will all happiness be found.

    If you would follow me,

you must leave old ways behind.

You must take my Cross and

    follow on my path.

You may be far from loved ones,

you may be far from home,

but my Father will welcome you at last.

    Although I go away,

    you will never be alone,

for the Spirit will be there to comfort you.

Though all of you may scatter,

    each follow his own path,

still the Spirit of love will lead you home.

We are gathered here in the presence of God. Let us be still for few moment asking God to touch our lives with his love.

    (Pause)

    Prayer:

O Holy Spirit, give me stillness of soul. Calm the anxiety within with a deep trust in you.

Strengthen our faith with the awareness of your presence. Give fullness to the love within our hearts

with an outpouring of your love.

Holy Spirit, be to me a source of light, strength and courage, so that I may hear your call ever more clearly and follow it more generously.

    Amen.

    Gospel Reading: John 10: 11-18

I am the Good Shepherd who is willing to

die for the sheep. When the hired man,

who is not a shepherd and does not own

the sheep sees a wolf coming, he leaves

the sheep and runs away; so the wolf

snatches the sheep and scatters them.

The hired man runs away because he is

only a hired man and does not care

about the sheep. I am the Good

Shepherd. As the father knows me and I

know the Father, in the same way I know

my sheep and they know me. And I am

    willing to die for them.

There are other sheep which belong to me that are not in this sheepfold. I must bring them too; they will listen to my voice, and they will become one flock with one shepherd.

The Father loves, me because I am willing to give up my life in order that I may receive it back again. No one takes my life away from me. I give it up of my own free will. I have the right to give it up, and I have the right to take it back.

This is what my Father has commanded me to do.

This is the Gospel of the Lord

ALL: PRAISE TO YOU, O LORD JESUS CHRIST

    Reflection: (Leader)

In this Gospel passage three positive qualities of God’s care are underlined:

1. He lays down his life for his sheep - He has given his life for us.

    2. He knows his sheep and he is known by them - He knows us intimately.

    3. He gathers them into one flock - He calls us to be one family.

As we reflect on this passage we think about our calling

or vocation in life and what God is asking us to do. He

may be calling someone here to follow him. Are we

ready to listen to his voice?

God knows each of us with a special individual love

and he had but one desire that we should know his

    love.

He wants us to grow in his love, to know him and to

acknowledge his presence in ourselves and in others.

Let us pause for a moment and listen to what God is

    asking of us today.

    Speak Lord I am listening,

Let your Word touch my life.

May it find a home in me.

    (Pause for reflection and prayer)

     Prayer for Vocations: (all together)

Lord Jesus, as You once called the first disciples to make them fishers of men, let your invitation continue to resound: Come, follow Me! Give young men and women the grace of responding quickly to Your voice. Support your bishops, priests and sisters in their apostolic labor. Grant perseverance to our seminarians and to all those who are carrying out the ideal of a life totally consecrated to Your service. Awaken in us a missionary eagerness. Lord, Send workers to your harvest and do not allow humanity to be lost for the lack of priests, missionaries, and people dedicated to the cause of the Gospel.

Mary, Mother of the Church, the model of every vocation, help us to say "yes" to the Lord Who calls us to cooperate in the divine plan of salvation.

    Prayers of Intercession:

Leader: Today we are praying that others may be inspired to come and

dedicate their lives to God in the Priesthood or the Religious Life - to

be his apostles breaking the word of God for others, giving their time

    and energy in your service.

; Lord you have called each of us to live for you.

May we live with passion the life you have given to each of us.

R/ Lord show us the way

; May our hearts be filled with gentleness,

May we share all that is Christ with those we meet.

R/ Lord show us the way

; May we be always ready to respect others and

recognise that God lives in each of us

R/ Lord show us the way

; May we be drawn by the power of your love

And show your care and concern for others.

R/ Lord show us the way

; May our lives be filled with your joy and your peace

And so reflect your life within us.

R/ Lord show us the way

    Prayer of Discernment: (All together)

As I look upon your face, Loving Jesus, I see your invitation to trust you. Send your Holy Spirit upon me

as I make my pilgrimage in life

    and grant me the grace

to trust You more and more each day. You have given me a unique constellation of gifts and talents to be used in building up the community of faith.

May I always look your face and

see You as the greatest sign of God’s love for me.

Then grant me the courage to follow your witness by giving

my life in loving service. Amen. Rev. Craig A. Pregana

Final Hymn: All over the World.

1. All over the world the Spirit is moving,

All over the world, as the prophets said it would be.

All over the world there’s a mighty revelation

Of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.

2. All over the land, the Spirit is moving,

All over the land, as the prophets said it would be.

All over the land there’s a mighty revelation

Of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.

3. All over the Church the Spirit is moving,

All over the Church, as the prophets said it would be.

All over the Church there’s a mighty revelation

Of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.

4. All over us all, the Spirit is moving,

All over us all, as the prophets said it would be.

All over us all there’s a mighty revelation

Of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.

    5. Deep down in my heart, the Spirit is moving,

deep down in my heart, as the prophets said it would be.

Deep down in my heart, there’s a mighty revelation

Of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.
