New forces in the Senior Management
Team of DPD (Pegasus) Romania.
Bucharest, 17 June 2009 – International parcel and express service
provider DPD has strengthened its Senior Management Team in
Romania with two new members as part of its expansion strategy.
Alin Gherman has joined the Romanian Business Unit as Commercial
Director and Catalin Dicu as Operations Director. In addition, Lucian
Aldescu has been promoted to Chief Executive Officer of DPD
(Pegasus) Romania while the previous CEO, James Gray-Cheape, has
been appointed as General Advisor to the Board.
"The enhancement of the Senior Management Team has been done in line
with the growth strategy for DPD (Pegasus) Romania. Following our
acquisition by DPD majority shareholder GeoPost, we are preparing the
company for considerable expansion in the coming years and accordingly
are hiring experienced and talented staff to join our dynamic team”,
declared James Gray-Cheape who founded Pegasus Courier S.A. and has
been CEO since 1996.
Lucian Aldescu who has been appointed Chief Executive Officer was
previously the Chief Operations Officer. “In spite of the general economic
slowdown, our position on the market is stable and we are willing to
continue our consistent development process in line with the market needs”,
declared Aldescu. Earlier this year, Aldescu was appointed President of
A.O.C.R. (The Romanian Association of Courier Operators) as a
recognition of his extended experience in the field.
Alin Gherman joined DPD (Pegasus) Romania as Commercial Director. He
has a wide experience in sales and marketing, having previously worked for
DHL, Procter & Gamble, Holdmann and Babel Communications. He holds
an EMBA from Asebuss & Kennesaw State University.
Catalin Dicu is the new Operations Director of DPD (Pegasus) Romania. He has a wide experience in the CEP industry having previously been Executive Director at the postal division of TCE-Curiero. He has a MBA degree from Tiffin University.
The changes in the management structure are part of the continuous development that the company has encountered especially in the last year after a majority in shareholding was acquired by DPD majority shareholder GeoPost, ranked second in Europe in the CEP (Courier, Express & Parcel) market in the business-to-business sector. “Our team is stronger than ever
and eager to offer the best solutions to our customers in terms of parcel shipping and logistics”, said Lucian Aldescu. “Our main objective for this
year is to continue the introduction of high-performance products and systems from the DPD portfolio.”
Last year, DPD (Pegasus) Romania launched DPD CLASSIC, giving access to one of the best-performing European road parcel networks with a great price-to-performance ratio for shipping parcels in Europe.
Earlier in 2009, DPD (Pegasus) Romania introduced several products from the DPD portfolio. Collection Request offers the possibility to order for goods to be brought from Europe to Romania. Exchange service is dedicated to serve claims by delivering products to replace the faulted ones which are returned. The concept of Parcel-Shop was introduced in Romania following the model of DPD Paket-Shop with 3.500 units in Germany and the Parcel-Shops of Chronopost with 20.000 offices in France.
In July, DPD (Pegasus) Romania plans to launch DPD C.O.D (Cash on delivery), a service particularly targeting the e-commerce sector which is expected to grow consistently in Romania in the next period. The service offers the possibility of shipping parcels with reimbursement anywhere in
Europe and is created specially for online shopping providers. By the end of the year, DPD plans to implement other products and services with added value from the international portfolio aiming to permanently increase the quality offered to its customers.
During 2009 and 2010, Pegasus is going through a re-branding process along with the campaign “Pegasus becomes DPD”.
