    attention to the pronunciation of the long /i:/ sound in T and V and the short /e/ sound in S and Z.

    The letter U is a vowel. The /v/ sounds in V doesn’t exist in most Chinese dialects. You should need special attention. You can’t say that like /vei/ or /wei/. /zi:/ is American English and is also acceptable.
